My album of the year is...

Sigur Ros, 'The-new-one-I-can't-pronounce-or-spell'

'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

MMJ - Evil Urges
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
There's a constant ringing in my ears
Sense of humor's void and numb
And I'm bored to tears.......
 There's always one smart arse...
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
was In Rainbows out in 08 or end 07?
i would pick "The Jimmy Cake - Spectre & Crown", but i think it was released in December.... ah well. its the album of 07 instead
unless I'm wrong, in rainbows was released in 2007.

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
You are correct. October 2007. But I like it so much it's my album of the year for 2007 AND 2008.
(The physical CD wasn't released until 1/1/08 so technically I can do that, right?)
hmm.. I dunno... It was avaliable to the general public to purchase and listen to in 2007...
I say it shouldn't count... Pick 'MMJ - Evil Urges' and I'll let you off

+2
without a shadow of a doubt..
although The Harmless Little F*** Jazz Octet's album "I'm Not Really Going To Live Off Grid" was, in the immortal words of Rudyard Kipling... the fucking shit!
Honourable mention : Martina Topley Bird - Blue God
Just a mention : Portishead - Third
The album is actually called 'I-never-said-I-would-live-off-grid-but-I-have-started-the-ball-rolling-on-everything-I-set-out-to-do-in-order-to-be-more-environmentally-conscious'

A Silver Mt. Zion - 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons
I have not heard the new sigur ros but i've heard most of the other ones mentioned. I thought the new MMJ and Ranconteurs were both okay but lacking. Same with DBT, Black Crowes, Fleet Foxes, REM, Wolf Parade, Destroyer Weezer, and many of the others i've heard.
right now i'd say that opeth's watershed is up there for me. Probably the fav i've hears thus far.
The only album i'm still looking forward to that is not out yet is Mastodon's new album is lurking in the distance as a late fall release. From the stuff i heard during the bonoroo show it sounds very interesting. Plus Brendan O'Brian is producing it. So i'm very interested to hear that.

Are you serious?
I really like "Time to Pretend" is the rest of the album good, too?
So far, I'll say Consolers, for sure.

Good, I'll check it out.
We seem to have pretty similar musical taste. Although I am much less of a snob
I wouldnt say snob, I would call it being picky.
