Queens of the fucking Stone Age, hands down. There hasn't been a rock band that different from everything else out there since the Chili Peppers, in my opinion.

- Bruce Springsteen
- Counting Crows
- dEUS

Realistically, I think bands that could wind up with status as high as pearl jam if we are talking bands of the 90s are:
311
Radiohead
Incubus
coldplay (possibly) (really wierd lyrics though, but great music, and the band has had many sold out tours and have a pretty big following from what I can see).
Tool
My morning Jacket (seems to have gained quite a following and respect from pj fans, so though these guys are still fairly new to the national scene (not talking about their local band days, just years since the debut record... about 5 years. If they keep it going they could possibly work their way up to the following/ fanbase pj has now.
coz they're a breath of fresh air. They sound 100% original and they seem like a bunch of intelligent guys. And I kinda like they're artwork and music video concepts.
If Pearl Jam was a beer, they'd probably be the best beer in the world!!
