The south also boasts the birthplace of Rock & Roll, the Delta Blues Museum, and is home to literary icons such as William Faulkner, Eudora Welty, and Tennessee Williams.

And by the way, I went to the top of Vulcan back before he got his make-over.

    To you, sir...

Staying literary.....Truman Capote and Harper Lee are from the same hometown in Alabama. Helen Keller is from north Alabama. One of my favorite modern writers, Robert McCammon, is also from Alabama. E.O. Wilson...one of the great biological minds of our time....from Alabama..

    W.C. Handy...Father of the Blues....from Alabama.

Indulge me for perpetuating the Mississippi/Alabama rivalry for a moment. Mississippi is home to the following:

John Grisham, B.B. King, Coca-Cola first bottled in Vicksburg
James Earl Jones, Jimmy Buffett, Oprah Winfrey
Jim Henson, Viking Range Corporation, Natchez Trace Parkway
Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, the Crossroads
Walter Payton, Jerry Rice, Brett Favre

Oh, and every time you played hide-and-seek or touch football, you counted out loud: One, Mississippi; Two, Mississippi...

Can. You. Deal. With. That? :p
