Something just occurred to me... is Jonathan Silverman Sarah Silverman's brother? Because then if Jonathan Silverman was his sister, I would want to fuck Jonathan Silverman.
No sir, they are no relation...but I have so much respect for you right now.

no, its not. they really were shite! scott weiland being too fucked up on drugs to make records probably didn't help either. but ultimately they were just plain shite.

Nope. Wrong. They were an amazing band. Go relisten to Purple and Tiny Music. Two of the most underrated albums of the last 20 years.

I thought Tiny Music was dreadful. This, to me, was the result of drug abuse wrecking someone's talent and ability. They broke up after that mess of an album and their return, No 4 was a great album. To me it holds it's own alongside Core and Purple. Tiny Music was the worst thing Weiland ever recorded before VR.
Oh and I now withdraw that Jonathan Silverman comment due to him not being Sarah Silverman's brother. In fact, I'd rather cut out the confusing double talk and deal direct. So if anyone knows how I can reach Sarah Silverman, send me a pm ;-)

Just my opinion, but i thought Tiny Music was awsome BECAUSE Weiland was so fucked up on drugs. I'm surprised you like Purple and not Tiny Music, I kinda think of them togther quite often.

To each his/her own. I'm a massive STP fan, probably one of the bigger STP fans left, and I'd say that TM is my favorite STP album. I think some of the songs, and vocals are just beautiful. Its obviously drug influenced, but that doesn't matter. I really think the peaked with that album. And for me No.4 always felt a little disappointing. There are some great songs, but the production isn't great, and the whole album just feels rushed (and it was becasue they wanted to put it out as fast as possible because of Scott's whole jail debacle). I think if they had spent more time on it, it would have been a much stronger album (Just to be clear, I still love it). I think SLDD was a step back in the right direction, and had they put another album, it would have been amazing.

Agreed.

Listen to 12 bar blues and tell me that Weiland is just "generic".
Listen to any post Core STP and tell me Weiland is generic. He doesn't even sound anything like Stapp or Vedder. Its ignorant because he just doesn't have any idea what he's talking about.
you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane.
i was being sarcastic
and you really should listen to purple great fucking record
I'll second that. Also, the Pearl Jam comparison is so lame. If you listen to most of Core, its clear that comparison is weak, and if you listen to anything past Core, it just doesn't make sense. As someone who loves both bands pretty equally, I can say that the comparison is bad.
you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane.
Core - 6/10
Purple - 7/10
Tiny Music - 7/10
{12 Bar Blues - 4/10}
{Talk Show - 3/10}
Number 4 - 5/10
Shangri-La Dee Da - 3/10
For me they were a band very much in decline, I wasn't too bothered when they split-up. Velvet Revolver first album was awful and i've not heard anything by Army of Anyone.
I was not crazy about STP when Plush / Core broke big, it was the album Purple that made me love them.
Tiny Music is very under-rated, No.4 sucked, and Shangri-La was very, very good.
So I have listened to a lot of STP over the years - AND a lot of GNR
Velvet Revolver's Contraband sounded like Tiny Music with heavier guitars and some excellent Solos by Slash
Libertad is going to end up a very, very forgettable album. There is nothing exciting going on there, and someone kidnapped the real Slash and replaced him with someone else.
Army of Anyone album was terrible , I thought.
Axl's new GNR stuff sounds better than anything above with the exception of Slither which is a Rock orgasm
I'll keep taking punches
Untill their will grows tired

to stay on topic I guess they broke up cause weiland is an asshole. I don't really know but that would be my best guess.
Seems like every song on that one was a friggen single!!
"She fell funny"
"Klaus Daimler, 40, engineer, calm, collected, German"
looks like i got the reaction i was after. also im surprised about some of nasty comments directed at me when i never directed any comments to them.
just like your sense of hearing :P
This is just plain wrong.

You = ignorant.
It is a simple syllogism really:
Sapp = ass clown making horribly generic cliché music
Weiland = ass clown making horribly generic cliché music
Therefore, Sapp = Weiland.
And that's exactly why I stand by my earlier comment, and totally agree with Atomic Punk.
You have no idea what you're talking about.
Now that is something I haven't heard before.
Listen to 12 bar blues and tell me that Weiland is just "generic".
all my hopes, anger, pride and shame...
Listen to any post Core STP and tell me Weiland is generic. He doesn't even sound anything like Stapp or Vedder. Its ignorant because he just doesn't have any idea what he's talking about.
the serious musicians in the group didnt like that
damn shame, purple is one of my favorite rock records and the were a great band
STP has just a tad more substance than creed
they only similarity is that they both got famous with songs that sound like pearl jam
that is not saying much, is it. damning with faint praise!
