just responding to your own condescension. this is textbook why i get so pissed about the cornell love around here. i say i dont care for him and there are 10 people telling me "clearly you never listened to *insert personal fav song here* cos if you had you'd know him." it IS possible that he doesn't turn various people's cranks. half the shit i listen to would be ripped to shreds by people around here. that's cool. it's all subjective.

    well said Soulminging :)

thats precisely what i dont get about him... i've got friends who cant understand what i like about PJ... its never ever even entered my head to make them a cd of great songs and let them listen as they've made their mind up already based on their first 2 or 3 albums.

its fine.. its their loss and one less fucker competing for concert tickets.

I love White Stripes and i see threads about them on here and people are slagging them off and stuff... couldnt give a fuck... again its their loss.

the Cornell devotees on here make this forum embarrassing... they go on about how great he is (or was)... why do they feel the need to do this on every thread and at every opportunity... let his music speak and if people get it.. then they get it.. but creating 86 threads per hour isnt going to cut it for me and other discernible music fans out there
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

My one and only point, is that people should give credit where it is due - nothing more nothing less. The guy has a musical talent, in the traditional sense, a talent which few other singers posess. It's the only reason I get involved in these stupid arguments, because I think raw talent, in a music scene far more concerned with image and style, is an admirable thing.

Argghh stick a fork in me, I'm done.

most of us who bash him don't bash him because of his music. It's his Jesus-complex that gets to me

    Arms held out
    In your Jesus Christ pose
Thorns and shroud like it's the coming of the Lord
And would it pay you more to walk on water
Than to wear a crown of thorns
It wouldn't pain me more to bury you rich
    Than to bury you poor
    In your Jesus Christ pose

Im not a hater but to think that him or any of the bands he has been in are better than Eddie or Pearl Jam is just crazy. Soundgarden was solid and Audioslave had one or two good songs but I am not crazy about either of them, his voice just does not do it for me.

i was unimpressed with cornell long before i knew how retarded his fans were. i have soundgarden's a-sides and that's about all i need from the man. the only song it's missing is my wave and the 3 good songs off totd.
So what are the three good songs off TOTD i believe there is many more than three on it?!!

  • I really don't understand why anyone can say they don't like Chris Cornell. Please give me a valid reason... and not the thing people have been talking about for the past couple of weeks.

Why isn't Nikka Costa on this list?

Or Chris Whitley? Or Jeff Buckley? Or Beth Hart? Or Public Enemy? Or The Replacements? Or The Clash? Or...

Oh. Because you're a grown man who can decide what he does or does not like for himself?

    Oh.

yeh i know another Cornell thread im sure you all hate me right now. But i seen this guy friday nite and he was amazing, truly amazing. Anyone who says that he has lost his voice is crazy, when he sang say hello 2 heaven i had goosebumps. It was by far one of the best shows i ever seen. So before u bash him, go see him in concert if you havent already.
maybe he shouldn't have done billie jean. really, soundgarden broke up, then audioslave(thank god), i think it's safe to say cornell is the common thread there. egomaniac city, and why?
