A few of us have been singing this band's praises on this board - now here is your chance to familiarize yourself with their excellent brand of American Rock N' Roll for free:

From their Myspace Page - as originally reported by PBM:

Visit http://www.LetThereBeRocktober.com

Exclusive live mp3's and even studio outtakes are available on this site.
The blessing is that by the end of the month, you can collect an entire DBT bootleg album.
The curse is that each track will be available for a couple of days at most.

(I posted this here, on it's own, so that no one got discouraged by the absolute size of the other DBT thread re: Blessing and a Curse)

  • What a kick ass version that is too.
Sans the introductions, but I guess it's Patterson with that little riff in the middle between Cooley and Isbell in synch with that riff before Brad kicks it back in.
God damn, when that bass hits again and they solo - might be my favorite part of any DBT song...

Maybe we will get some full fledged outtakes out of this... perhaps a studio version of "Goodesfield Rode" which they have been playing lately (If I am not mistaken was recorded for The Dirty South) or maybe "The Great Car Dealer War" will see the light of day on something besides some weird import promo thingy.
The Man has a branch office in each of our brains, his corporate emblem is a white albatross, each local rep has a cover known as the Ego, and their mission in this world is Bad Shit.

  • Does anybody have any suggestions for shows off of Archive.org for DBT.

Yeah, I've never heard Great Car Dealer War. Like that they started off with Buttholeville, thats a great track live, but not as well known since it's on the first album.

A little off topic, but what was the 'reward' for finishing the Gravity's Gone game? I never did finish the damn thing. I'm glad I don't have to try to control Cooleys gas to get the tracks this time.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

Yeah that game got the best of me too... someone on the ninebullets board posted that the song is "George Jones Talkin' Cell Phone Blues" but I haven't heard it or seen it available anywhere.

  • I won the aggravating game... the song is ok... nothing like the best of their stuff, though...

How cool would it be if they put up some unreleased tracks for download on there?

October is going to be a good month...

Washington, 7/15/06 or Lancaster, PA 9/27/06

    I was there for both
and DC was just an asskicking marathon.

Jason was on in Lancaster, Patterson called it "officialy my favorite night of the tour" at the end of the show.

There's Goodesfield road streaming on Archive live from Lancaster last week.

    Amazing song.
    Gotta love John Neff.

I'm having a hard time accessing the download page with Safari...I'll try Firefox instead.

I had the same problem with safari, but ended up going through the link to rocktober on the main DBT page with no problem.

I couldn't get it to load, but I went to http://www.blessingandacurse.com instead, and it worked fine. (rather than the rocktober site)

  • Today: Sweet live version of Sands of Iwo Jima

For newcomers - this is arguably one of their best songs off of Dirty South... an excellent storytelling song paying tribute to members of "The Greatest Generation"

Putting People on the Moon does it for me...but yeah, this sounds like a great version.

It looks like an every other day rotation.

Nice, one of my favorite tracks. Patterson gave this one a heartfelt intro when they played it out here a few years ago.
