First off, i think the band would be a lot better off w/o Maynard.

second, they seem so arrogant.

Third, they treat there fans like shit

Fourth, they play a twelve song set, okay 15 if your lucky

Fifth, they play the same songs night after night with maybe one or two changed up

Sixth, Maynard stands in the dark most of the time

Seventh, they suck

What do u think?

First off, i think the band isnt TOOL without Maynard.

second, they seem so arrogant, how?

Third, i am a fan. and how are they treating me like shit?

Fourth, their songs are way longer than other band's songs, so 12-15 songs might take a while.

Fifth, they play the same songs night after night with maybe one or two changed up. so what? only go once and you'll never know. :p

Sixth, Maynard stands in the dark most of the time, cause who wants to see the singer anyway when the band is a single entity as TOOL is. concentrate on the music, not the players.

Seventh, they don't suck. but for some may be an acquire taste.

    that's what i think. :)

standing in the dark does kind of suck when you pay 60 bucks.
Fourth, they play a twelve song set, okay 15 if your lucky

it's true, they used to be way more diverse. now it seems to be more about the visuals than the music.
Fifth, they play the same songs night after night with maybe one or two changed up

    alot of bands do.
Sixth, Maynard stands in the dark most of the time

So does the rest of the band. yeah, it sucks. we get it.
    Seventh, they suck

    No they don't.
    What do u think?

i think they started doing their current stage setup in 2001, and you're posting about it in 2008, which means you're 7 fucking years late to bitch about it. so fuck off. buy a ticket or don't, but it's a little late to be a whiney bitch about it. almost a decade in fact. grow up.

as far as them seeming arrogant and Maynard standing in the dark at concerts, they've been pretty adament about the fact that they want the music heard and don't want to be seen as rock idols. I don't know a lot indepth about the members, but from interviews I've read in guitar magazines, Adam Jones seems to be one of the most humble and down to earth guitarists on earth. I think it's just a stupid statement. though I love PJ, I've always taken Vedder to be one of the most arrogant and pretentious rock stars I've ever seen.

as for only around 15 songs a show. don't know, I've never seen them live. but many of their songs are 7-9 minutes long, so that would naturally cut down on the number of songs that can be played live. many venues throughout this country are operated by union workers, which means that shows can only last so long. so when your songs are twice the length of most normal mainstream songs, you can't play 25 songs a show. would you like them to cut their songs down to the more mainstream 4 minutes just to make you happy?

in saying "they suck", well, that's your opinion. but I think it's a stupid opinion. I've only been getting into them over the past year and don't even have the most recent album, but the high points off Undertow, Aenima, and Lateralus are far and away better than 99% of rock music that is out there. the riffs and musicianship is awesome, and the lyrics are well thought out and clever, and Maynard has a great voice. some songs can be tedious, but those are few imo. what's your basis for saying "they suck"?

though I like A Perfect Circle, it does not come close to Tool imo.

You're an idiot. I saw tool last December it was one of the best concerts I've seen. Wings 1 &2 might be the best live performance I've ever seen. The whole show was mindblowing. Stay away from Tool and go listen to your Chris Cornell albums!
  • How do they treat fans like shit?

Low ticket prices to a show with a very high production

Basically, same set every night.. but every time they come through a market more than once they change the set.

Check the set lists from Coachella, Staples Center & Nokia Theater from the 10k days tour. Each time they rolled through the L.A area, the show has been different.

The visuals at the show are amazing & they enhance the music.

Band members don't want to be the center of attention. They are playing the songs, but the songs are the stars of the show.. not the musicians. Hence, standing in the dark.

and last but not least.. Pearl Jam should take a lesson from Tool.

Both released albums on the same day.. yet Tool finished the 10k days tour in December of 07.

THAT, my friends, is a WORLD WIDE TOUR.

i have to agree with the fact that TOOL at least came to Texas 4 or 5 times on the 10,000 days tour, with 2 of those being Houston stops over 1 year and a half of touring. Pearl jam is playing some south shows, but they have gotten quite picky on where they go. They should play everywhere, who gives a shit if the arena doesn't sell out. the band members each walk away with about $5000 dollars a night and then after the tour they have another load of multilillions and that's not even configuring the digital boot sells. The Tool show was just not my cup of tea. They are great musicians, but the overall presentation was boring.
Not trying to shit on pj, I'm just saying.

let me tell u a little story about tool.

they booked a show at an arena in a city in the upper midwest. the venue only held about 8000. it sold out in about 4 hours. every single music fan in the area was excited and anticipated an awesome show. Well, about a month before the show, tool cancelled. Not because of illness or anything like that, they got offered more MONEY to play a festival in toronto on the same day.

Whether tool was in good taste or not (and they werent) by doing, i just thought id let you in on this story about how they really appreciate their fans.

Fuck, the show was in IA, where maynards from

Umm......no. Pearl Jam concerts are about diversity, a connection with the fans, and just hearing a flat out real american rock band give it their all every night. hmm lets see what PJ would be like live if they listened to tool...

    tonights setlist:

    Alive
    Evenflow
    Daughter
    Betterman
    Corduroy
    (skips no code)
    DTE
(skips riot act and binaural but plays a shitload off their new album)

    Severed Hand
    Comatose
    Gone

    Encore
    LAST KISS!!!!!!!!!!
