i'm going to rip up the subfloor in my basement, not run the dehumidifier all summer, buy a pack of smokes and a few cases of beer, and invite Wintersleep over.
you have to come and tend bar.
hahahahah
it's a deal!it will take me back a few years...
let's get on the horn to loel!0 -
lol... i already mentioned this to mookie...

Set list:
Miasmal Smoke and the Yellow-Bellied Freaks
Archaeologist
Dead Letter and the Infinite Yes
Weighty Ghost
Murderer
Search Party
Encyclopedia
Oblivion
*
Danse Macabre
Woah Woah Woah Daddyo!
I've just realised... 9 songs?!
Considering the back catalogue of 3 albums they have, to only play 9 songs (I know it's their latest release but 7/9 of the same album and absolutely nothing off one album?!) is a bit of a piss take. Six quid or not I would be mightily pissed if I went to my local pub to see a band and they only played 9 songs... imagine how pissed i'd be if i'd done what I wanted and travelled over 100 miles?!
It's not even as if they mixed the songs around a bit, the songs remained in album order from Archaeologists to Search Party!
I've been going to stupid amounts of gigs every year since I was about 15 and never have I been to one where they've played only 9 songs.
I'm kinda glad I didn't go. I'd rather save up and see 'em in CanadaBeen to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.0 -

I take your point, on one level; they only played one song from my favourite album, Untitled. This tour has been a string of very short gigs in small places.
BUT, they played more energetically and with more skill and urgency I've seen since Pearl Jam at Reading, and I do admire that they're playing small cheap venues here and with two bands as support. It marks them out as a humble bar band in a climate of hyped-up, pretentious 'scene' bands. And we only turned up at 10 when they started.. didn't bother watching two support bands. If I had done I'd have probably been disappointed about the pay-off after a long wait.
This gig whet my appetite for more Wintersleep when long gigs CAN be quite draining.. I was left wanting, and to me it was refreshing.
My personal opinion.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

The band themselves were really dissappointed with the set lengths they were given. Guess its all to do with promoter wrangles etc. They are gonna come back and hopefully they'll get the kinda headlining set they deserve (Loel also promised me tracks from the first album)
Still on a gig high from Monday I've cranked my gig count up to 5 now !!!
It was great to meet some members of the board toosorry If I embarassed myself I was a little over excited

He is just bitching about the cost because I have spent waaayyyyyyyy too much precious money already this year. We all know having money buried with you gets you into heaven, so I understand.Just me0
