  • "Japanese Boy" - Aneka

One of the best songs ever made.
And the rythm track is pure rave.

    :D

This may be THE ULTIMATE GUILTY PLEASURE, but i'm not too homophobic to share it:

    Lose Control - Eric Carmen
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

And then there is this, just plain bad "Jump" era Van Halen wanna be doucherocket-"metal" repleat with tits, ass, and bad synthesizer.

    Summer Time Girls by Y&T

    Funny how opinions differ...

I remember "So" first hitting the radio waves and thinking it was such a breath of fresh air...compared to what else was going on in the mid 1980's...that cd was in a class all it's own

Ozzy O agreed ;) just in case his opinion matters ;)

That cd, So, was and still is, a masterpiece!
Don't sell his earlier, in the 1980s, album short....Security is a fine little disc..."Shock the Monkey", baby.

But "So," does have Kate Bush on it. :D

Not to sound snooty, but I think a lot of people don't really know what synth pop is.

Here's a short little song list from a cd I made several years ago now. I still listen to it from time to time.

    A Little Respect - Erasure
I Touch Roses - Book of Love
    Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode
Melt With You - Modern English
The Promise - When In Rome
    If You Leave - OMD
Living in Oblivion - Anything Box
    Regret - New Order
Close to Me - The Cure
Just Can't Get Enough - Depeche Mode
    Oh L'amour - Erasure
    Boy - Book of Love
When We Lie - Anything Box
Bizarre Love Triangle - New Order
More Than This - Roxy Music

One of the more overlooked bands from this genre is Anything Box. Their cd "Peace" holds a special place for me.

Robert Plant, "Walking towards paradise" which is the bonus track on the Now and Zen album. If you got the CD, it was the last track, and if you got the vinyl, there wasn't room for it, and it didn't exist. I love that song!
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

Jump by Van Halen is synthy, and 80's. And I love it as much now as I did when I first heard it in 1984 :D
I hate the pop synth stuff, except New Order, they were pretty cool, then the Happy Mondays (90's I guess though) :D
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

Does Adam & the Ants qualify as synthy?????

  • I was in the studio yesterday, and my producer/engineer was talking about why this fad for tinny production took on, in the eighties. I thought it'd be some really technical reason to do with fads and developments in compression and EQ. He said it was because everyone was doing so much coke that the top range of their hearing was fucked, and they kept saying, "I can't hear the top, man, put more top on". :D

"Stunned by my own reflection, It's looking back, sees me too clearly and I swore I'd never go there again, Not unlike a friend that politely drags you down, down, down"

When you see me on the street, yell out "FAVO!!!"

I've been to alot of Pearl Jam shows; So fucking what.
