I cannot believe he's been here twice since May and I've gone to neither of the concerts!
Tried to get tickets the ifrst time, second time I was sick and actually forgot about the whole tickets-going-on-sale-thing, but maaan I would love to be there! Saw an interview on saturday night with him and it just seems like he (them) are having so much fun playing these songs..

agreed- Bruce and the SSB are having a blast with these shows. Every show brings a new, redone classic in this different style- so fresh and new- even tho many of the songs are " older " .
You can always try the " drop " lines - either at the venue- or with the ticketmaster company ( or whoever handles the sales in your area ) . Bruce is known for dropping seats even the day of the show- and sometimes these " dropped " seats are the very best in the house.

yeah I was wondering about the holiday shows, I haven't heard anything about them yet.
those are extremely cool- nothing like seeing Bruce in that Hall. I have been l;ucky enough to go the last few years at Convention Hall, and the most recent time was actually at a bar - Harrys Roadhouse down in Asbury Park . Yes- a bar ! can you imagine ! ?
That was probably the craziest I have been to .

yeah, I heard he was doing that at the first night, so I decided I'd try next time. But then I had to work sunday morning until 4 pm and ofcourse got really sick after work. And then to travel for four hours to most likely not get a ticket since it was so late didn't seem very temptimg at the moment. And now I guess it's going to be a while until next time.
But seriously, with the videos I've seen and recordings I've heard of the concert, I'm kicking myself for not trying anyway right now.. Eh well, the people who went probably had a wicked time..
11/6, GUTEN ABEND COLOGNE!
Bruce seemed very relaxed, beginning this final stretch of the Seeger Sessions tour after the one-week break. Again, no Patti -- "We have high school kids, you know," Bruce told the audience. Opening with "Atlantic City" again, Bruce took the crowd by storm, at least by German measures -- a lot of singing and dancing through a pretty standard setlist with no real surprises. "Growin' Up" was a warmly welcomed audible by the audience. The unavoidable Wolfgang Niedecken (a native Colognian) guested on "Pay Me My Money Down"; no harm on this one, compared to "Buffalo Gals" in Frankfurt in May. (report by Florian Spintler)
Next: Tonight in Antwerp.

wow, you sure have me beat, I have only been 8 times, but then again he doesn't play around here very often so when I do see him I have to travel to the East Coast usually.

My very first concert ( I was already 19 , or maybe 20 years old ) - was Bruce & The E Street Band- Giants Stadium BITUSA Tour )
Of course, Geography dictates alot of this luck ( even got to meet & hang out beside him ) ;
but this is most likely more due to my GF.
Bruce = to her
Pearl Jam = to me - ( alltho i Have only seen so much of pearl jam in my lifetime - not a fraction of what i have seen of the boss )
I enjoy him also ( so i benefit too )- but shes crazy over him. She has seen probably 150-200+ shows , way back to the Jersey Shore beginnings , and way before we had even met .
being in seattle, i'm sure there are bands you've seen or had the opportunity to see far outweighing my chances....

Almost three months after the Holiday shows by Bruce Springsteen, the Max Weinberg Seven and Friends in Asbury Park, Crystal Cat Records (CCR) has released Jingle Bells Night. Although many Springsteen fans with an internet connection will have gotten their hands on one or more of the December 2001 shows through a trade or a tree, the CCR label fortunately deemed it necessary to release the December 7 show. Fortunately, because CCR has become a guarantee for fine releases in very good sound quality over the years, and this release sounds better than the recordings that have been circulating over the internet. Packaging of the set is fairly decent, something CCR usually puts quite some work into. There are a few errors in the songtitles in the tracklisting and the live photos (not from the December 7 show but from the next night) are not superb, but due to the very strict security photographers had a very hard time doing their job. All in all it's a small miracle in itself that any photos have come out of the Convention Hall.
CCR has chosen to release the 4th Holiday show (December 7). It's especially the last show, that was the longest and featured the most special guests, that has spread through the internet. Of course we don't know whether this is the reason CCR released the December 7 show, but it's a fact that with this one they picked the best show. The opening is already phenomenal, when after the horns intro 'Deck The Halls' Bruce kicks off the concert with the piano version of 'Incident On 57th Street'. It's a shame the way two American ladies keep talking near the microphone of the taper, chosing this precious moment to discuss every day life.
The concert takes a hilarious turn when Bruce Hornsby is called on stage. After a Chistmas medley on piano and a beautiful duet with Springsteen on 'The End Of The Innocence', Hornsby gets to bring in his accordion for 'You Sexy Thing', a Hot Chocolate cover. A unique choice of repertoire for Springsteen.
At the start of Southside Johnny's song 'This Time It's For Real' something happens with the taper's microphone, causing the sound quality to become a little less for a while. Fortunately this is only for a short period of time, and sound quality for the remainder of the show is fine again. That the show is (one of) the best of the week in Asbury Park is also clear from Bruce's words before the encores, when he thanks the audience with the words: "Great show, great audience."
The bonustracks are from the other four Holiday shows and are of lesser sound quality. Unfortunately, CCR couldn't cram all the other songs played on the third disc. A bit odd is the choice to include a part of Bruce's spoken intro to 'My City Of Ruins' from the last show as the final track of the set. The track is called "Bruce Thanks Backstreets and others" (CCR probably finds it so unique that Bruce mentioned Backstreets magazine that this influenced the decision). As a result of this, the songs by Garland Jeffreys and the South Community Choir get completely ignored. Judging from the response by the audience, these were the least appreciated songs during the shows and therefore they'll probably won't be missed that much. Especially Garland Jeffreys got a cool reception by the audience, leading to an angry reaction by Bruce on December 6th. To be able to hear all the songs played during the Holiday shows, Springsteen fans can try to get a recording of the last night as well. With some use of the internet this can't be too hard.

11/7, ANTWERP: As election results rolled in here in the States, Bruce and the band played the final Continental gig of the Seeger Sessions tour, before they cross the channel for the final eight shows in Great Britain and Ireland. The Antwerp show opened with a surprise debut, :eek: :eek: :eek: "Blinded By the Light," :eek: :eek: :eek: and included a nice mix of other rarer originals: "Bobby Jean" for "the old fans," "Further On (Up the Road," The Ghost of Tom Joad," and "Fire."
Next: Over to England, with a Thursday night show in Birmingham.

11/9: BELGIUM TO BIRMINGHAM
As the tour returns to UK shores, the main set remains the same as the previous show in Antwerp. But we haven't heard anyone complain, certainly not about that new "Blinded By the Light":eek: opener. And shaking things up at set's end was a special guest appearance by E Streeter Nils Lofgren. Nils, currently touring in the UK, joined in the fun on "Pay Me My Money Down." The encore extended to six songs, with an impromptu "Froggie Went A Courtin'." David Griffin tells us, "Any concerns that covering another artist's material was a sign of having lost some creativity were wiped away in a breathtaking two-and-a-half hours of remarkable music in Birmingham last night. The most astonishing performances were the re-workings of 'Blinded by the Light,' 'Open All Night,' and 'Bobby Jean,' and it was great to see Nils join Bruce and the band for 'Pay Me,' having seen him solo acoustic the previous night in a small club in Nottingham in front of a crowd of less than 200." Dave Jones adds: "The only word to describe the event is joyous. I haven’t sung that many gospel songs since I went to church school, and the sight of 13,000 plus people singing and dancing to 'Froggie' was truly surreal."
Next: A weekend in London, with back-to-back shows Saturday and Sunday nights at Wembley Arena.

11/12: WEMBLEY GETS ROCKED WITH THE GREATEST OF EASE
Night two of two in London, maybe even better than night one. Less political commentary, but another incredibly strong performance, with a less reserved crowd and an extremely energized Bruce and band taking the whole thing higher and higher. Numerous setlist changes from Saturday night, of course -- "John Henry" returns, "Dan Tucker" steps out -- most remarkable being the number of Bruce originals. Four of the first five songs came from the Springsteen songbook, including the tour debut of "Does This Bus Stop at 82nd Street?" with a Seeger Sessions spin; in all, there were 11 Bruce songs in the mix. Once again they followed the standard show closer "American Land" with a bonus track, tonight's being the rarity "Man on the Flying Trapeze." Springsteen intro'd the song with a bit of the song's history he gleaned from Google, including the origin of the leotard... and told the crowd, "An epic story, and tragic, too. Feel free to bust out and sing along -- that's what folk music is all about!"
Now that the tour has come back to English-speaking territory, we're getting a better sense of just how impressive the performances are on this leg. (Europeans, please don't let the language barrier stop you -- if you caught a show on this leg and you'd like to tell us about it for the magazine, by all means send us an e-mail so we can be sure to have yours covered well. We try not to be "ugly Americans," but if you can read this, your English is certainly better than our Italian, Spanish, etc.!) We're gathering that it's a very different show than what we saw Stateside over the summer and, as always, one that can't be judged by setlists alone. The band is mind-blowingly tight, the arrangements continue to evolve, and there are plenty of new "bits," like the horn players taking over the Andrews Sisters scat portion of "Open All Night," or the spotlight on Lisa Lowell for a soulful, yearning verse on "Saints." The Devils & Dust material plays very well, especially "Long Time Comin'," which has become a favorite focal point of the show. With any luck, we'll all get to bear witness to what this show has become -- we're told that all three nights in Dublin are going to be filmed. Fingers crossed for a DVD from this music's motherland... time will tell. In the meantime, for the real live experience, there are just five shows left -- get there if you can!

some talk beforehand about the song and its history, dating back to the 1800s. I heard this one at the tour closer here in the states - in Holmdel . Bruce has been known to drop a few F bombs doing this song .

yeah, I heard he was doing that at the first night, so I decided I'd try next time.

Of course, Geography dictates alot of this luck ( even got to meet & hang out beside him ) ;
but this is most likely more due to my GF.
Bruce = to her
Pearl Jam = to me - ( alltho i Have only seen so much of pearl jam in my lifetime - not a fraction of what i have seen of the boss )

Review http://www.euronet.nl/~everhaar/thepromise/

Next: A weekend in London, with back-to-back shows Saturday and Sunday nights at Wembley Arena.
i cannot wait for the ever-so-resourceful bruce fans to get these shows out as boots for us. :eek: I just received the milan italy show broadcast DVD from italian TV- its f'n awesome.

Next: The last show in England, Tuesday in Sheffield.

some talk beforehand about the song and its history, dating back to the 1800s. I heard this one at the tour closer here in the states - in Holmdel . Bruce has been known to drop a few F bombs doing this song .
