  • Wow, first thing this morning I saw in the online new a set of photos entitled--"Scott Weiland photo file set through the years." I immediately thought the dude was dead. Anyway saw this split coming from a mile away. I'm sure the press release is not all accurate and it ain't all scotts fault. BUT i would agree with Slash's statement about scott not being all about the fans. Twice the past year I was in a social scene that involved scott and fans and boy was he a real bastard to everyone

Well STP is back together - I've seen both STP & VR live & in my opinion, I'm glad that STP will be performing live again.

K-rock announced they are playing PNC Arts Center in NJ on May 31 with Filter.
    My lips are shaking.......
  • I don't think Weiland is really valuable to any band right now. I think VR stinks with or without him, but I'm not that excited about STP's reunion at this point either. I'm not confident that it will last, because the guy continues to have personal problems. If he can get his head screwed on right, then STP could make a great comeback which would be awesome. They never made a bad album imo.

SCOTT WEILAND Says Former VELVET REVOLVER Bandmates Are 'Covering Up The Truth' - Apr. 2, 2008
Vocalist Scott Weiland has released a statement to MTV News regarding his dismissal from VELVET REVOLVER.

The founding members of VELVET REVOLVER — guitarists Slash and Dave Kushner, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum — announced their decision to fire Weiland in a press release issued at the conclusion of the band's final performance with Weiland in Amsterdam, Holland. Slash cited Weiland's "increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems" as reasons for dismissing him.

In a statement released Wednesday morning, Weiland fired back at his erstwhile bandmates, stating, "After reading the comment by Duff, Matt, Dave and the illustrious 'Guitar Hero,' Saul Hudson, a.k.a. Slash, I find it humorous that the so-called four 'founding members' of VELVET REVOLVER, better known to themselves as 'the Project' before I officially named the band, would decide to move on without me after I had already claimed the group dead in the water on March 20 in Glasgow.

"In response to Slash's comment regarding my commitment [to the band], I have to say it is a blatant and tired excuse to cover up the truth. The truth of the matter is that the band had not gotten along on multiple levels for some time. On a musical level, there were moments of joy, inspiration, fun ... at times. But let's not forget the multiple trips to rehab every member of the band had taken (with the exception of one member — no need to mention his name).

"Personally speaking, I choose to look forward to the future and performing with a group of friends I have known my entire life, people who have always had my back," Weiland continued. "This also speaks to my commitment to my music and my fellow bandmates in [STONE TEMPLE PILOTS] and to the fans who I feel would much rather watch a group of musicians who enjoy being together as opposed to a handful of discontents who at one time used to call themselves a gang."

In conclusion, Weiland warned fans not to be "fooled by veiled trickery," and even wished VELVET REVOLVER his best. "Good hunting, lads — I think Sebastian Bach would be a fantastic choice."

Unreal, the 2 sides can blame each other all they like, but Libertad was crap, the fans didn't buy it , and that's where this thing fell apart
    I'll keep taking punches

    What made libertad bad.
was past their sound and never heard it.
Was it too much cheesey recycled riffs form the gang.
Or was it Scotts massive creativity that tends too turn people off.
    Like some of shangriladida
Some people have religion I have Pearl Jam.

I think it was that the two sides didn't mesh. At all. Some of the riffs could have been made into something special with the right singer, just like some of Scott's melodies could have been great with the right band. It just wasn't the right combination.

I actually like most of Libertad, I think Contraband was the one that was crap. I saw them last fall on tour with AIC and couldn't believe they still play almost all Contraband songs and barely any new songs, 5 songs in a row from Contraband just killed the crowd.

I've never seen STP live and am thrilled to at least have the possible chance of doing so. I did see VR at Live 8 and wow, were they brutal. It was painful to watch and they killed an otherwise great crowd. I'll take hippie frontman Scott over 80s metal Scott anyday of the week.

Funny you say this. Last week I pointed out to stp fans that this is how they toured the last stp album, shagrila, pissed me off. It was the same exact show I had seen 2 times on 2 differant legs for th #4 tour except for 1 song.

    Its prob scott.

Yep, the shangri-la tour was just basically the same greatest hits setlist they played for 4 years during the No. 4 years.

i went to their 5th-to-last show before they split up, and actually walked out on it.

Aaah, so it's not an April Fools joke.

Ouch. I do think VR can actually go on with a new singer though. I think that's much more likely than GN' R having a re-union.

But STP...that's gonna be awesome. And hopefully we'll get a new album.

I've always thought Slash and the boys would be perfectly suited to Axl Rose's voice. I heard Rose ain't doing anything at the moment, so this could be possible. Who knows, this inspired idea could be better than both Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver combined...

A lot of anger towards Shangri-La around here - I actually really like that album - much more than Libertad , actually

I also happen to think Weiland is pretty brilliant in making his melodies, but agree with whoever said that it wasn't the right fit with Slash & Duff

I predict a drunk Slash will be showing up on Axl's porch sometime in the not so distant future. Axl may be a psychopath but at least he's not a poseur like Weiland.

Who cares? Both bands suck ass

Velvet Revolver was god awful. and STP hasnt been any good since a very spotty album titled Tiny Music

I saw them on the Shangri-la tour in London. It was the first time I had seen them, and I was more than happy with the greatest hits set they delivered. I wasn't much of a fan of Shangri-la, and was expecting a set full of those songs, so I was pleasantly surprised they they didn't play too much from it. To this day, it stands as one of the best shows I've been to. I read an interview after it where they said it was among the best shows they had ever played - so maybe I just got lucky.

Tiny Music is their best album.

So basically as they grew togehter their egos got in the way instead of becoming more cohesive, and they put themselves in front of the music.

Well my posts were reallity just on how the band felt about the album, they seemed to lack confidence.
I think hands down that was their best, I also agree with you on weiland, super creative and great songwriter.
    But a total fuck up.

Funny you should say becasue this is what started this feud.
In rolling stone late last fall weiland and slash exchanged words.
One called someone fat and acused slash of kissing axls ass, the other acuse the one of being a sociopath exct exct, made alot of funny jokes, becasue slash had to go to axls for some business.
    They were both quoted.

No that would be a great first show honestly.
The problem is which is also my beef with Cornell, is once you get the ball rolling and put yoursefl in the company of the Stones, Zep, Rush, Pj , Gnr,and start doing arenas and come back thru cities like Stp and Cornell / Audioslave, did, like 5 times in 5 months. Than the same exact show 2 years later 5 times in 5 months and make all these promises and raise your tix prices every time.
    It gets old.
There is no doubt STP is great, or Weiland, but they do it for the money and partying, I am not saying they dont love their fans, it shows on the records, but their priorities just become way to distorted for the entertainment bussiness nowadays.
Its like sports, you have to train, stay healthy eat good and love life.
Motley crue got away with it in the 80s, but Gnr sure as hell didnt, either did Alice and chains, you figure these musicians would be smart enough to get better managent.
And realize even if the fans perception of their music isnt good it doesnt mean its not good.

THIS IS THE MAIN REASON PJ HAS SURVIVED, THEY ARE CLEAN ENOUGH TO REALIZE ITS GOOD MUSIC, THEY HAVE GOOD VISION AND PERCEPTION, THEY DO NOT HIDE FROM THEIR MUSIC.

Its a shame, becasue Velvet revolver, Stp, Gnr, Alice and chains had bright spots on every album and they all were creative with solid music, I cant speak for libertad.
But these albums are leagues above.
    Puddle of mud
    Seetther, who arent bad
    fall out boy
    my chemical romance
    creed
    nickleback is the most exposed.
I mean I would have a hard time believing libertad is worse than the daughtry album, or nicklebacks latest, as far as songwriting and overall musicianship.
    you know the bands.
