Wow...this has to be the worst blog I have ever seen. What a piece of crap.
How's that, big guy? If you're going to shit talk my livelihood I'd like some substance to back it up. In fact, I call bullshit on both you and Saturnal, arrogantly bashing a site that has tons of exclusive interviews, honest, thought-out reviews and editorials that's got about 5k RETURNING visitors, and 3-5k originals, each day.
If it were a gay poem I wrote or one particular piece, I'd dismiss you like I should. But I've poured my heart and soul into that site for over a year now, and your unsubstantiated shit talking is straight fightin' words to me. So give me an example of what sucks.
Go read an article in a magazine from a proffessional writer and then re-read yours it should become pretty clear...
Huh? First off, I never claimed to be a 'professional magazine writer.' But I've made a living by writing for years now. It's how I feed my kid and pay my rent. I know what I'm doing.
Antiquiet is a website with our own brand and style. We're not the magazine type..
It might be worth mentioning that these two pieces alone landed me an upcoming interview at LA Weekly:

Cornell has put his heart and soul into his music and you can bash him...why can't I bash you?
Granted, I haven't heard his new music to comment. But I have seen your website and it's shit. Live with it. (Remember it's just opinion...big guy)

So again, it's not a matter of compromised validation here, but one of unwarranted, unprovoked insults. And that's fucked up.
To be honest, I found your post about Cornell to be somewhat premature, and a bit of a knee-jerk reaction, despite agreeing with a number of the points you made. It's hard, because I think we all have our ideas about what his true intentions are here - but personally I think we will have a much clearer picture once the album is released and the dust has settled.
That being said, I think your post about Cold War Kids was pretty much spot on

Thanks on both points. And you know what? The Two Drink song has grown on me. But I still can't stand the other ones.

Yeah I'm still not feeling the other songs either. Two Drink Minimum has a lot of classic Cornell touches to it, it's not dissimiar in style to All Night Thing, When I'm Down or Getaway Car.
My opinion on this whole situation seems to change by the day. Having seen interviews with Cornell, he does seem a fairly genuine kind of guy, and I don't think he needs the money. But, the other part of me thinks he perhaps went into this with the best of intentions, and somehow it's ended up as something completely different and he's just rolling with it, if that makes sense?
I just can't believe that he truly believes a song as bland as Watch Out is of equal artistic merit as a song like, say The Day I Tried To Live or Like Suicide.

Just an opinion. It doesn't make me right.

The difference is I backed up my opinion. All it ever is is 'just' opinion - but unwarranted opinion deserves to be challenged.

Try as I might, "Two drink minimum" is a damn good crooner from CC.
Note: I have not liked a single thing he produced (solo) after "Euphoria morning" but I like that track...
Its traditional blues... just add a searing "Clapton style" guitar solo and that's suckers a hit IMO..
