Oasis was explained.. Americans don't really give two shits about them unless they're playing Wonderwall.
The world is bigger than just america
Primus is virtually unknown unless you're into weird music..
Primus virtually unknown. What planet are you on?
Harper could use a little more recognition..
Maybe he should start making some hitsingles
Sonic Youth has ALWAYS been underrated and I don't see that changing.. Brilliant music that's wayyyyyyy too weird for the average joe.

Everyone who has the least interest in music knows sonic youth. Major record deal. They were regulary played on mtv and have played tons of festivals. I could continue....[/quote]

-Yes it is.. which is why the idea was that they were underrated IN AMERICA. duhhh...

Primus virtually unknown. What planet are you on?

-If you don't have strange taste in music you probably haven't ever heard a Primus song (other than the south park intro..). It's the kind of band you really have to seek out.

Maybe he should start making some hitsingles

    - No argument here.

Everyone who has the least interest in music knows sonic youth. Major record deal. They were regulary played on mtv and have played tons of festivals. I could continue....

    - They aren't really unknown but underappreciated? Definetly.

I probably would have listened to him by now, but the only time I find him is when I'm looking for Beck (Hanson). So I say.. "That's not MY Beck!" and ignore it :p

You're missing out on some good music, then. In terms of guitar playing, I have no problem mentioning him in the same breath as Hendrix, Clapton and Trower.

But I do like the other Beck as well. :D

    Forgot to mention Mogwai.

Over the last few months they really have become one of my favourite bands ever, and so much brilliant material to choose from. Have bought 5 of their albums in the last 3 months or so, and i think they are all great!
People say im paranoid. Well, they dont say it, but i know that's what they are thinking.

Only Living Witness - released two albums on Century Media in the early 90s before breaking up. could've been the East Coast's answer to grunge if marketed correctly. both albums were reissued in one package last year.. and yes, like every band, they have a myspace. http://www.myspace.com/olw

  • some from NZ

Shihad, were taken to the US to be the next big thing then 9/11 happend and their name sounded too much like jihad so went down hill from there.
But these guys rock, the nations favourite band. diffinatly worth checking out

    The Datsuns
Slowly getting a big following, started from a small band that gained the attention of Led Zep bass player John Paul Jones who pretty much begged to work their next few albums, the results on their new album are definatly worth looking into, theur first album is a total rocker.

    The Feelers.
Probably the second best band in NZ behind Shihad, solid albums, catchy rock, that doesnt sell out, great summer band

i have to add sigur ros to this list. they are mindblowingly good and i think most people go "they dont sing in english... im not listening." it's a crime.

to add fuel to my 'radiohead is over-rated' quest... i think the last 3 radiohead albums have been poor attempts to capture the sigur ros style.

Yo, haha... good point. I just take it as no one knows of Sigur Ròs (except for my friends), and that it just drops off my radar when it comes to them being under-rated because they are fucking amazing.

And your Radiohead quote made me so mad that I erased it.
