    now THIS is fucking funny!
"All I Ever Knew" available now in print and digital formats at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iBooks.
  • People aren't bitching about him wanting to reinvent himself and try new things. They're bitching because he's releasing an album full of tracks that have multiple writers, bad lyrics and little originality - not the things people expect from someone as talented as Cornell.

You're damn right his voice is amazing, but a lot of people feel it's being wasted on sub-par music. Most of the people slagging Scream off on this board, have seen him perform live in the last year or so, and are well aware of how good he's sounding these days - which is why this sudden blatant embracing of everything coporate is so hard to take - hence the bitching.

Well said....and I completely agree. I've seen him on every tour since Soundgarden in the early 90's. His voice hasn't been this good in years....what a waste.
Gonna rise up....burning black holes in dark memories. Gonna rise up....turning mistakes into gold.

I hate the mentality some people have that if you're a "true" fan you will support that he is supposedly evolving and being more creative and branching out as an artist and musician. I don't know what being a true fan is supposed to mean, but I've been listening to Cornell's music damn near 20 years. Soundgarden is my all-time favorite band, and I consider Cornell a fantastic songwriter and one of the top vocalists of all time. That said, I do not feel any obligation to praise Scream just because its a Cornell record. I don't give a fuck. If it sucks, it sucks. And as I've said a million times, this record does no justice to Cornell as the brilliant musician and songwriter he is. Mostly because there's no musicianship involved and he didn't write the goddamn songs!

I was one of the few who liked a great deal of Carry On, and I defended him then. There is no defense for this shit he's doing now. Maybe some people really do like it, and if so, great. But to accept it blindly just because its Cornell (or insert any band or artist here who is fucking up) is ridiculous. Like I said, he's been one of my favorite musicians nearly two decades, but I'll be the first to say Scream is utter shit.

    STREETTEAMER OF THE YEAR NOMINATION!!!!!!!!

as of Tues 8:47 pacific 10/21 only HOB Sunset and Seattle are showing no tickets. All other shows you can buy the max.

I only tried 3 of the 4 after reading the thread. Vegas was the only one I didnt try and i just did and you can pull up 8 in a row. Granted I dont like the career path that he has taken I fail to see see how selling out shows can be considered a disaster.

I mean the Vans Warped Tour probably doesnt sell out every show, every year, so by your reckoning it must be a disaster of a tour then right? Basically any tour that doesnt sell out night in and night out is a disaster?

"Ground Zero" off the new album is a damn good song. It takes balls to put out an album like this...it's different from anything I've heard before, so I'm pretty excited to listen to the whole album.

Did you listen to the whole album yet? How do you make an opinion after just hearing a few songs?

Well, at this point, we've heard pretty much half the album. And everyone who's heard the album live - as it's "meant to be heard" - says it's all fairly samey. So it's fair to assume that if you don't like what you've heard so far, there's nothing on the album that's gonna make you say "Ohhhhhhhhhh... now it makes sense."

No: I feel confident in my opinion that Scream, as a whole, sucks scabby donkey nipples, and the only decent song on it was tacked on as a hidden track.
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.

No but I think its fair to say I've heard at least half of it. And given how generic and uncreative and uninspired that half is, I have no reason to expect better from what I haven't heard.

I actually think a good producer could do some pretty cool stuff using CC's vocals to make some sort of beat (similar to Ground Zero, except those monkey yelps are embarrassing).

I have a mix of "Dusty" with Cornell's voice being the main "backing music". It's pretty sweet, probably better then anything from Scream.

Its a b-side from Blow Up The Outside World singles. Plus its available on the bonus disc of the Australian version of DOTU (a six song ep that included Karaoke, Bleed Together, Birth Ritual demo, Fell On Black Days video version, and Jerry Garcia's Finger)

theres a difference when the Vans tour plays 15000 - 20000 seat venues and Cornell is playing 1500 seat venues. Explain that?

Yeah, I love that remix and it would be great to see Cornell layer (that the right word?) his voice to make it a sort of instrument. Kind of like what Vedder did with Arc, or even that bit near the end of Reach Down ("I WANNAA REEEEAAACCCH DOOOOOOOOOWN!" etc),

The size of the venue doesn't matter, you are basically saying that any tour that doesnt sell out every show is a complete disaster. It was a blanket statement.

no the Cornell tour is a disaster, its the number of tickets that an event draws. it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out this. he is selling tickets at 32.50 x 1500 = 48,570$ if full. They are taking a loss. Scream/Cornell is a failure.

Chris Cornell is so irrelevent right now that he is having trouble selling out 1500 capacity venues. Even with Timbaland! Do you think there was ever a time that Soundagarden or Audioslave would fail to sell out a 1500 seat venue. Yeah maybe 1988. Its a disaster when you tell the public that this is the best work you have ever done similar to Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon, and you still cant fill the smallest venues in each city you play.

Eddie Vedder sold out all of his solo shows instantly, some with 3000-4000 capacity.
