Yes, i get it. please continue to repeat points made by a dozen people already. I know its one show. Its for charity... blah blah blah.

To me its another step in the continued and growing hypocrisy of Pearl Jam.

have you not thought that the band will not be making a single cent out of this show! they don't have to do it, they could fly home to their families, but instead the make themselves available for an event which they trying to raise $3m million
    2003 - Sydney x3,
    2006 - Reading Festival,
2007 - Katowice, London, Nijmegen, Rock Werchter,
    2008 - MSG x2, Hartford, Mansfield x2, Beacon Theater,
    2009 - Melbourne, Sydney,
2010 - I watched it go to fire!
    2011 - EV Brisbane x3, Newcastle, Sydney x3,
    2012 - Manchester x 2, Amsterdam x2, Prague, Berlin x2, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen,
    2014 - Sydney, EV Sydney x3

and my whole point is that the charity angle, and the donating their time angle has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Pearl Jam has decided to do an extremely exclusionary event based purely on the wealth of the fans... their heart may be in the right place, but ultimately its hypocrisy.

    and why is it hypocrisy??
is it because the more wealthy and more fortunate are giving away what is teirs, and giving it to the less advantaged????

funny, i always believed PJ/eV's songs that touched on material wealth/success had a clear message decrying those who abused their advantage to the detriment of the disadvantaged, rather than spreading the wealth and success around to benefit all and not just a single individual,...sort of what the Robin Hood Foundation and PJ's performance at the Beacon is all about :)

tell that to philanthropist Bill Gates, the oft-speculated subject of "Soon Forget"

and after you tell him, go take a look at how much he has donated to charity.

robin hood steals from the RICH and gives to the poor...taking that stance, that is in essence what they are doing here... just a bunch of crazy pj fans got inivolved... me personally, i would sell one of my kidneys to get into their shows... its not hypocrisy... its following the robin hood tradition of giving to the less fortunate... if you dont like it, dont go regardless of whether you can afford it or not
it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...

gasp, dare i say you're "presuming" to know how much Bill Gates has dontated to charity? not enough in your opinion? what is the exact number if you don't mind my asking?

if your argument's position/ammunition is that the wealthy aren't donating "enough" if at all, what is your take on an acceptable donation for Bill Gates and the rest of the uber-wealthy? in the mean time, this benefit is geared towards the wealthy NYC crowd (don't think they fall under the uber-wealthy category) who could easily unload the same amount on a Gucci purse or new HDTV entertainment system as they would on a pair of orchestra seats at the Beacon, which seems like a fair trade to me. otherwise, this event isn't directly geared towards 10C members, die-hard, and/or casual PJ fans - some will be able to justify the cost of tickets and some won't, some will be able to afford to luxury of attending and some won't BUT how does that differ from any other PJ concert situation, where a fair production value cost is charged to the consumer?

Nope, thats opposite of what im saying... Pearl Jam made a thinly veiled attack on bill gates JUST because he is rich... even though he donates a shit load of money.

and EXACTLY. the benefit is geared to those with lots of disposable income... not the fans of their music, and in most cases, the type of materialistic folks (a new gucci purse) etc that the "ideals" pearl jam seems to preach seem to be against.

I can't stand people who think they're entitled to something because of who they are. I hope none of you whiners and killjoys come to any of the shows because I don't want to meet you. I'm fun and happy until I read 35 pages of pointless arguing.

I totally agree. Even if members of the band don't read this forum I'm sure they hear from others that all the fans do is bitch. When I go to a show it seems Pearl Jam fans are some of the best fans of any band, but reading this forum half the time makes me think I'm communicating with totally different people.

I have nothing against people stating an opinion even if it is negative, but being rude is another thing. Also, the forum members who attack someone for stating their opinion are just as guily.

Nice, I didn't even know about the shirt and poster. What kind of poster - like the regular Klausen/Ames type PJ posters? If so that's cool..saved me $30 right there.

Last time I went to a RobinHood benefit show was two years ago and it was the Rolling Stones and the B-52s opened for them. It was at radio city music hall and the place was packed. But they had an open bar on every floor and on both sides. Come in grab a top shelf drink( was drinking Johnny Black all night Long) go to your seat and there was a t-shirt and rolled up poster to commerate the night. It was fucking awesome night, they played four songs that I never heard live.(worried about you, she was hot, waiting on a friend, and can't you hear me knocking) This is going to be an amazing night, trust me the last time people were offering me 1000 for one ticket. Not sure if they will be ames posters or Klausen. But last show was free t-shirt, poster, and free top shelf drinks all night long. This is 3 million were talking here PJ will pull out all the stops this will be better than IRVING PLAZA and the show of the year. Plus this is the last show of the tour.
