    I know...I prefer Buckley's interpretation.

The sidewinder sleeps tonite - depressing? i think not, maybe I'm just being pedantic....

i guess it doesn't help when michael laughs about 2 and a half minutes in. the thread is about sad songs not depressing songs. but still maybe i can't get past the songs around it.

    Cindy's Cryin'
    (Tom Paxton)

Cindy's cryin' but it ain't no use -
She's got a habit and she can't get loose.
Stoppin' each and ev'ry man she meets,
Gonna be a hooker on Bleecker Street.

    On Bleecker Street,
Honey, makes you feel like cryin'.
You said you'd leave it and I hope you're tryin'.
Oh, they call it livin', Baby, someone's lyin'.

Police stopped her on the street today,
She was holdin' and they took her away.
Threw her in jail and they made her wait,
She was cryin' "Oh, Jesus, let me just get straight.

    Let me just get straight".
Honey, makes you feel like cryin'.
I know you can make it but you better stop tryin'.
Oh, they call it livin', Baby, someone's lyin'.

    Cindy, Cindy, whatcha gonna do?
Got no money and you're way past due.
You got every last penny I had,
The man is restless and your credit is bad,

    Ah, your credit is bad,
Honey, makes you feel like cryin'.
We can make it but we better stop tryin'.
    Oh, I ain't leaving you and I ain't lyin'.

Now Cindy went South and took the cure,
"This time, Honey, I'm straight for sure".
Went to the corner to the grocery store,
You were gone ten minutes and I know you scored,

    And I know you scored,
    INSTRUMENTAL BREAK

Cindy's cryin' but it ain't no use,
She's got a habit and she can't get loose.
Stoppin' each and ev'ry man she meets,
Gonna be a hooker on Bleecker Street.

    On Bleecker Street,
Honey, makes you feel like cryin'.
Oh, they call it livin', and it feels like dyin'.
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

Nutshell by Alice In Chains just so haunting and eerie the way the guitar plays alone for a minute
Heaven Beside You Alice In Chains just some of the lyrics seem as if Jerry knew laynes problems so well and he couldnt hide from him stuff like ' so theres problems in your life thats fucked up well am not blind'
Do Re Mi by Nirvana the solo acoustic demo recorded just before kurts death with the line 'if i may and if i might got a gun to bleed me' just so good and makes you wonder what could have been for nirvana
You Know Youre Right by Nirvana always sounds like a suicide note to me lines like 'always knew it would come to this' 'things have never been so swell' 'i will move away from here' and then the chorous where kurt just screams the word pain
Black by Pearl Jam just so moving with eddies vocals so powerful and just makes you think of things youve lost, missed out on and mistakes youve made
My Hero by Foo Fighters just reminds of kurt cobain everytime i hear it and dont think anyone can say this isnt actually about kurt no matter what dave says

Great band were Humble pie. I got their two first albums in a one album package a few years ago. Some great songs on it. Pity Marriott was such a loop.
