The good old 70's when seeing bands like Pink Floyd, Allman Brothers, Deep Purple, Robin Trower, etc. was a stone party where everyone just kind of swayed the same way because they were all buzzed on something good.
That's why I go to concerts, for that weird adrenaline rush from the experience...I don't eat or drink during the show, don't need to when I'm totally focused on the music. I like the crowd to be a little out of control, though, it adds to the fun and spontaneous interaction with the band. I also hate it when a few wisps of smoke bring security running. Stupid.0 -
moshing went out with acid wash jeans, man
as far as live concerts go...if you live in(near) a big city there are generally tons of good music and shows to see...dig in deep. find your local heroes cause PJ just don't come around enough to fill the void.
club shows are so much fun. it's crazee########################

What bugs me the most is when a band plays a slow song and everyone starts talking to each other like it's fucking classroom discussion time.
I mean, everyone is entitled to a "wow, that last song was really great" and stuff like that. No one has to stay silent. But why pay $60 for a ticket if you're just going to chat with your buddy the whole time?
It distracts the people around you who are really trying to get into the show. My Morning Jacket has a lot of slow, quiet songs and there was a crazy amount of chatting when I saw them in September.0 -

What happenned to the good old days, hardcore shows, people flying around being carried, etc. Turns out you cant even have a beer in the parking lot in most venues without someone coming to bust ya...
Dont you miss that sometimes?
Short answer... Lawyers.
...
The end of Moshing came in the mid-1990s when someone was suing Debbie Gibson because of a Mosh pit. When there is a Mosh Pit at a Debbie Gibson concert... Moshing has officially become obsolete.
...
and the best times... the late 70s and early 80s Punk Scene in Los Angeles. Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Germs, X, Geza... The Masque, Gazzarris, The Whiskey, Filthy McNasty's, The Starwood... sure, you got spit on... but, it was real funny to hock a luggie right in some crazy punk rocker's fucking eye and not end up in a fist fight. We didn't care about getting spit on or getting our shitty clothes ripped or torn... we were young... we were stupid... and it was fun.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! I think that moshing especially crowd surfing is for smaller places like clubs. Crowd surfing is for rock stars and people who pass out in the crowd, not for some douchbag who lands on my head, injures me and thinks I'm not gonna pay him back. A good punch in the nuts, throwing their shoes or glasses is always funny. The best if you see them coming is to get out of the way and watch them land on their face on the concrete.Let's see those 2013 dates in the southern states.0

I don'tI am 37 now, and really enjoy the comfort. I also don't think there is anything inherently wrong with one seat per person. You don't have to sit down, you don't have to be quiet. Want proof? Six characters: PJ@MSG

I'm not even into my third decade on this planet, but even know Mosh Pits aren't as horrendous as having the Hells Angels acting as security guards in a "free concert" that turned into a mass brawl between them and the concert attendants which resulted in numerous deaths including Denise Jewkes a pregnant woman who was a victim of a bottle throwing incident that resulted in her suffering from a fractured skull. Yeah, the Good Old Days seemed much more relaxed, free and liberating.
Those who enter Mosh Pits do so at their own risk, I've attended a metal festival (Download) on no less than three separate occasions and Mosh Pits were very common everytime I attended. At the 2004 Download Festival, I spent the entirity of Sunday at the Main Stage where I saw Metallica, Slipknot, Ill Nino and Slayer (amongst other bands) and the entire day was littered with Mosh Pits and I was next to a group of people who spent the entirity of the Metallica performance taking snipes at people who were Moshing in and around them. I thought of them as very pretentious and tedious individuals who belong at V-Festival. How anyone can listen to Slipknot live and not mosh, push, jump and go absolutely crazy is beyond any comprehension of mine.
If you don't want to be in a Mosh Pit, then stay away from them and if you do not like Mosh Pits full stop then go to a Bowling For Soup concert, not an American Head Charge concert.0 -

there aint gonna be any middle any more0 -
I think a lot of the reason there just isn't GA any more has a lot to do with that whole thing with The Who years ago. They opened the doors and people were trampled.
Not so much moshing, but the safety of people camping out for the best seats and then shoving to get to the stage because they were there first or whatever.
