What did you think of the new venue at Qualcomm? They just started doing shows their this year, and I haven't been down yet. Good pictures on your review, although I can't believe Weiland is still pulling the megaphone out. The only time I saw STP was opening for Neil Young in '91 (along with Blind Melon!), and all I remember of STP was the damn megaphone on what seemed like every song.
You may know this already but it was one of the Concert on The Green shows so it wasn't actually within the confines stadium, it was on the field next to the stadium.

It was fine. It felt like an ordinary GA fest. They might want to invest in some overheads or something because if you're in the rear you can't see a damned thing. And though I didn't have to use them, the port-a-potties were interesting...lots of them, though, which is a good thing.

This time round Weiland's limiting his use of the megaphone...I think it only came out on 2 songs, one of course being "Dead and Bloated" :).

Yeah, I've seen the 'venue' a few times from the trolley. I'll be seeing Dylan there in September, doesn't look bad for a GA place, but it definitely looks thrown together.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

Scott is, and always has been, a fuckwit....
The dude has a disease and it's serious. I don't ever hear people around here talk about Cobain or Staley like that.

Drug addiction is many things, but it isn't a disease.....

And sorry if the comment seemed harsh, it's just the guy has always come across as a shallow self centred nobody with little in the way of talent.....

No, he's just a fucking knob.

    Seriously Wieland grow up.
  • They should have called it the "Russian Roulette Tour" because it sounds like going to see them was not much different then spinning the chamber and pulling the trigger, sometimes you got a good show, sometimes you didn't. I saw them in Green Bay, WI at a Casino of all places a few weeks ago, and it was a GREAT show. Wieland appeared to be sober and happy, sang GREAT, and the band put on a good show. Seems like half the people have said it was a great show, half of them said he was stoned or drunk and acting like a total douchebag. Oh well.

It's clear that Wieland's still a loose cannon, and I hope that maybe someday he cleans his act up. I doubt it will happen though. I'm honestly surprised he's lived this long. I still think he's a great musician. I just wish he could keep his shit together.

Really, why...must you humiliate yourself? You wish you had his success. Oh and who's Wieland, I know of a Scott Weiland, shame on you my little friend.

I think we know who the knob is here. Thanks for your 5 cents.

You bleeding heart fans are hilarious.

Wish I had his success? Nah I'm pretty happy with where I am at the moment but thanks for the concern. Though I wouldn't mind having some of this guys 'problems'- like shit loads of money.

I don't think anyone should wish Scott's life on anyone. The man has a serious drug problem that he just can't seem to kick.

I wouldn't want to have his fame either; considering he's mostly famous for being a major fuckup than he is for his music..

STP "could have" been a great band but Scott's addictions and idiotic behaviour has destroyed the bands legacy.

I can't begin to tell you how pissed off I was seeing Scott up on stage stoned out of his mind and going through the motions up there.

It was a complete insult to anyone that shelled out the cash to see him and his band perform

Scott may as well have taken our money, put it in a neat little pile on the stage, whip out his weiner, and piss all over it while laughing in our faces.

Because that's basically what an STP show translates to these days

This is really great info. I was planning on spending the money to go here in Oregon(their only OR performance) Sept. 1st, but I will just sit outside and listen. We are fortunate to have several restuarants and bars right outside the venue you can see the stage from..

Some performers can pull-off a great show when they are drunk...The Replacements, The Pogues....even Eddie can be entertaining when he is drunk.

However, STP is simply ripping people off by planning such a long tour with the junkie lead singer.

This is def a cash grab, one and done scam.

That's because the final chapter has been written for Cobain and Staley.

    Weiland's story is in progress.

just saw em last night in bloomington and i was impressed! maybe i just got one of scotts better shows but his voice was spot on and he was very entertaining! in general it was a pretty generic show (especially the boring visualizer they used on the giant screen behind them), but they played through every song i wanted to hear in 2 hours with only one brief encore break and i had a great seat... its all worthless though if they dont get back in the studio and try rehashing their former creativity

Staley and Cobain were both fairly well liked and respected by their peers. Scott Weiland has been torn apart by most of the people who have worked with him as an arrogant pretender whose drug probelms make his already shitty behavior worse.

I've enjoyed STP since Core, and was a fan until the end of their original run. I saw one of their final "original" performances, and it was the biggest letdowns of any concert I've ever attended. The band seemed miserable to be there (in front of a home town crowd), Weiland was just so-so, and the setlist was an uninspired run through of their greatest hits.

I didn't care about the reunion, and I still don't. If Velvet Revolver, who are 3/5 of Guns N' Roses, were able to put up with Axl Rose FAR longer than they could deal with Weiland, what does that tell you?

I was at that show too. I assume you mean Oct 11, 2002 at the Convention Hall in Asbury Park. They were definitely burnt out on each other by then.

Yep! Such a friggin' let down, considering how close to home they were. I lost alot of interest in them that night.

They had some GREAT songs, and I don't discount that. But I'm fed up with Scott's bullshit, and I'm not sure that being in STP is what's best for the man. I miss having new tunes from them, but it's not a functional relationship anymore. Why bash the legacy any worse, ya' know?

Plus, Scott showed his true colors again when they played at PNC this year. Another hometown show, and this time Scott is just a mess. Glad I missed it, based on all the reports surrounding the show. Shit, it was all over the papers, internet, and radio.

    Shame.

I was at the PNC show. Scott was a disaster. We were close enough to see his eyes and you could see right through him like he wasn't even there.
Went to the Borgata last week and he was in very good form. Not the best I have seen him, but pretty damn good. The band, well I have NEVER had any complaints about them. Would love to hear new stuff from them, but I would rather Scott take a year or two off and try and get his shit together. He has been non stop for like 3 years now.
