  • There was a guy here that lives in NYC that owns a framing shop. I forget his user name but I know everyone calls him Hoff from his avatar. Can anyone point me in the right direction for that thread he has about getting things framed (i cant find it through search) or give me his user name? i have a friend in NYC that is looking to frame a few prints.

I like clean and simple... Would personally never use nothing but black, white or chrome frames.
And not all posters need mat either, like this one...

Anyone in the Portland, Oregon area use a framer they're happy with? I'd like to go with a local shop and not to a big box. I have a LOT to frame, so reasonable is always nice too. Thanks!

I THINK The Hoff / Chris' framing shop is in Richmond, VA...not NYC.
Has anyone heard from him lately??

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but does anyone in the Greater Boston area have a framer they would recommend? I'm not a do-it-myself guy and there are several I am itching to get on the walls.

  • Jimmy, I go to michael's to get my pics framed. I just used a 70% off coupon. Get the reg. glass instead of the uv and it cost me $160 for the MIA poster. Usually around Christmas the have a 75% off coupon. Keep an eye out

Thanks. I have seen their coupons around online. Was hoping to find a little guy but if not any port in a storm!

Have your experiences with Michaels been good?

Michael's may be fine, but I have had them ruin some stuff for me. I stopped going there years ago, found a professional framer who is really OCD about his craft, and have never been happier. Also, going with a professional will give you infinite more options than what can be pieces together at Michael's or hobby Lobby.

I couldn't agree more. I took something to a Jeffrey Allen's once and they damaged it beyond repair. Stick with the local professonal stores and stay away from the big box chains... It may cost a little more to go with the independents...but they do the job right in my opinion! And, my local framer gives discounts when framing multiple items. You may want to check around for that too.

Agreed. I bring a few things in at a time, and for normal mats and frames, it runs about $170 without needing a coupon. If I go overboard and make the order more involved, it costs more of course, but trust me, long-term, better to have a pro.

I went overboard on this one:

Thanks for all the feedback guys! I may give Michaels a try with one while the search for an independent shop continues.

Appreciate it. Just be careful with Michael's We had a good framer there for a while, but she left, and the person who took over poked a small hole in a rare Polish Pulp Fiction poster of mine that can't be replaced. Hopefully you have better personnel at your Michael's. Best of luck.

Really like both the moose that people posted as well... mine's in here somewhere too, further back, with a very similar color sequence...
