These 2 would make a nice couple side by side :)

    Totally agree...they make excellent companions!

    Hello,

A question for those of you who have purchased an Ikea frame - which model/style do you typically go with for the typical 18" x 24" poster?
Thank you for your help. Have a nice week.

When I was back in Germany, I only used Ikea frames. They don't come in 18x24, sadly... So you have to go for something bigger, and then also get a mat. Ribba or Virserum would probably be the best choice. And if you are in the States, look for coloured mats in stores like Hobby Lobby, Michaels etc! They also cut them in the store according to your needs.

Thank you for your suggestion. Enjoy

We got our Charlotte poster back from the framer today. Went pretty simple, black frame, black matt. I think it came out pretty f'n sweet! In my opinion (probably because we went to the show), best poster of the tour so far. I'm sure the Mrs. will not approve of my placement, looks good to me though! ;)

I have the Isle of Wight in the same room (my office) as the 2 EV solos from Dallas and Houston.
All the same size. Have the Mexico City rooster upstairs.
Need to add Philly 2 and Baltimore as a few more. (That would be 17 framed/up in my house to go along with way too many in tubes.)
I really love the tall/skinny ones, think they look cooler.

Yeah, I was so stoked when I got to Baltimore, checked Instagram, and saw it was a tall poster! It's gonna be early spring before I frame anything else, but I'll most likely do Baltimore next.

(If I'm not mistaken, Rhys Cooper did the EV Dallas/Houston posters, too, right?)

Hi all, it's been awhile but I want to get back in the framing game... can anyone recommend any Manhattan shops for framing? My past frame jobs have been self or Michaels and I'm ready to step it up to something nice. If I can trust the shop I'd like to start with EV NYC 2011 night one (panda and bunny). Any framing job suggestions for that poster are also appreciated.

I have 100s of thread pages to catch up on! ;)

been meaning to post this here-

Since we want to have the majority of our posters framed in simple black, we have been buying frames from Amazon from a company called "Art to Frames". they are MDF and the larger sizes are plexiglass, but they are very reasonably priced. We have 12 that are all the same frame in 22x26, and then I ordered the matt from American Frame to have them custom cut how I want them (depending on the poster, sometimes you want different overhang) and they have all turned out beautiful and not bad in price (anywhere from $8-$20 or so, depending on color and size...check out the clearance colors!)

We have picture ledges in the living room and can swap them out pretty easily since the frames are all the same size, even though the poster dimensions are all a little different (such as 17x23, 18x 24, 17.5 x 26, etc). We go a little simpler than some around here with the framing- no fancy cut-outs, we try to stick to mostly stock frame sizes to minimize costs. Some of our frames i have ordered through american frame because they are huge or we wanted to make them a little extra special (Oslo 12, Copenhagen 12, Spusta Brisbane 2011, Soldier of Peace, etc) and these hang on the walls instead of on the ledges... we just do them in batches so we always get free shipping :D
    Makes much more sense...

I found a mom & pop framing shop locally that gives me better prices than frame stores and they take great pride in seeing my face when I pick 'my babies' up, lol.
If you cannot do it well yourself (I cannot) I would advise to try to find a small shop and negotiate a bulk discount. Still almost $100 a print but they are backed and done beautifully.
I would love to do it myself but I would do a hack job at it.

  • There are too many pages to go through in this thread so sorry if this has been covered many times over. But I just got my first official poster from the Phx show and wondering if there are certain do's and don't's that I may not be aware of when framing these works of art. By the way, of the few pages I have looked at, all of yours look great.

Took my Wrigley variant in on Sunday for framing - hoping it will be done next week. Never done this with any other poster, but I told them I would be taking the poster back home with me, they will call me when the frame comes in, and then I'll bring the poster back in for them to mat and frame while I wait. I just couldn't leave that poster!
