by the way Dirty_Frank...what happened to the idea of the 50BLUE? did that go down hill?
I love how you pop up whenever the word TRAYNOR is uttered!
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V
Yeah I think I'm going to get a Blues Deluxe RI, I'll let you guys know how I like it give me 8 weeks
I just got another e-mail from the guy......
He said that it's literally "out of the box" and been played like 10 times, and that he had put the price at $750 knowing it was high and that he would go down to $650 for me.
I had asked for $550 so I bet he'll go for $600 if I pick 'er up....
Is that a good deal?? $600 CAD for the Tweed Blues Deluxe Reissue
"I Miss You Already!!!!!"

Ha but seriously Dirty_Frank's reverb on his amp kind of broke and he wanted an upgrade considering he has had that amp for about 5 years now and he was really really into getting the 50BLUE, I just don't know what happened
2003: Uniondale, MSG x2 | 2004: Reading | 2005: Gorge, Vancouver, Philly | 2006: East Rutherford x2, Gorge x2, Camden 1, Hartford | 2008: MSG x2, VA Beach | 2009: Philly x3 | 2010: MSG x2, Bristow | 2011: Alpine Valley x2 | 2012: MIA Philly | 2013: Wrigley, Charlottesville, Brooklyn 2 | 2014: Milan, Amsterdam 1 | 2016: MSG x2, Fenway x2, Wrigley 2 | 2018: Rome, Krakow, Berlin, Wrigley 2 | 2021: Sea Hear Now | 2022: San Diego, LA x2, MSG, Camden, Nashville, St. Louis, Denver | 2023: St. Paul 1, Chicago x2, Fort Worth x2, Austin 2 | 2024: Las Vegas 1, Seattle x2, Indy, MSG x2, Philly x2, Baltimore, Ohana 2
It wasn't cooperating with my strat. Sounded pretty good with my Les Paul, but it just wasn't clicking with the strat.
I should probably give the whole thing another whirl soon though.
Yeah I understand what you mean. I really don't like the 50BLUE, I mean the overdrive is amazing but it's just I can't buy an amp that doesn't have a great clean channel.
I'm seriously thinking of getting the BDRI. Run the strat through the BDRI and then the SG through the 40WR

How would a Twin or BDRI sound with a DS-1 in front of it for Distortion? Or would an Overdrive be better. I'm thinkin I can save a little bit if I just got thr 65 Twin instead of the new one.

the DS-1 is a piece of shit once u get a tube amp

There are definitely better distortion pedals (Shannon Distortion, I'm still looking to sell mine!). I used a DS-2 for awhile and it sounded fine in front of my Blues Junior. Got a good punk tone out of it. Of course I don't use it anymore now, and thats for sale too!
the vibro king is heavenly. I'm a big super reverb fan and the new Bassman LTD makes me melt.
Todd Mohr from Big Head Todd and the Monsters, is using a 3 10 version of one on the latest tour. Seem them last week. That thing was sounding wicked. Of course it does help that he can play extremely well too.

Buddy of mine just scored the chassis to a '59 twin reissue of Ebay for $200. Have changed out the transformer and is going to run it thru two vintage 30's. That should sound pretty good.

Why do amps from the 60's sound better than amps built in 2006?
Circuit boards, solid state rectifiers in my opinion.
Reissue Bassmans and amps like that are descent even the non point to point reissues. At least the tube sockets aren't soldered into a board, helps reliability.
There are still really good sounding amps now adays. But the real good ones that are built these days are point to point wired, and tube rectifiers.

All about cost. Hard to pay a $40 an hour factory worker to hand wire an amp.
Some of the middle of the road circuit board amps haven't been so impressive with the machine solder. I had to re solder the connections where the tube socked is soldered to a board on a blues deluxe. It honestly looked as if the tubes heated up and melted the solder? Yikes, doesn't seem right. Solder melts around 350 degrees. There is no way a tube is getting that hot. Could just be bad quality control.

I've found the Shannon Distortion pedal to do two main things.
a) Push a clean amp on the verge of breakup into Zeppelin like OD
b) Boost a dirty channel to give saturation, sustain and wicked harmonic distortion.
I hardly ever use it as a straight gain pedal. But, it does those other two things amazingly.
What pedal would you reccomend for putting infront of a clean Fender to get Hard Rock (i.e Boston, or Slash) sounds?
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V
That link should be to Robert Keeley's modded RAT pedal. His modded pedal is VERY different than the stock pedal. I'm tempted to pick one these up myself. I just hope that it will sound great through a clean channel.

Any others.... Slash or Dave Gilmour is the lead tone I want, and for a rhythm sound I want like a old school Stone sound AND the sound the guy in Boston has when the Electric comes in for 'Piece Of Mind' if you know the song.

I like the Shannon Distortion, I just never loved it, you know? And ever since I got the Greedtone I find I have no use for it. The Greedtone does all I want it to, from mild overdrive, to really harsh distortion, crunchy when strumming chords, but clear when playing a lead. Great pedal.

your asking for too many pedals!! haha
the David Gilmour sound is almost impossible to get, his tone is rediculous.

I was winning the bid with 102$ til 45 seconds later and I was going to put 110 just to be sure...and someone beat me with 117$...good price still
Yeah, I was trying to get a Keeley BD-2 awhile ago, and someone outbid me within the last 5 seconds of me trying to press refresh of the auction ending.

Don't we all. My roommate plays a Fender Deluxe, not the Tweed Reissue, just the regular old black tolex, and its one hell of an amp.

Nice I heard that pedal is supposed to sound similiar to the 40WR when it's on the vintage setting
