Had to part with my Wizard to get it, but it was the right thing to do. I'm really a single-channel guy, and although I was perfectly happy to spend the rest of my guitar-playing life with the Wizard (which is an AMAZING amp!), I never forgot my first HJ.
I'm pretty much done with amps after this...except perhaps to get a back-up HJ someday when I can afford it. I'm finally out of money for new gear. I have 1 more guitar, and some road cases coming, and that's it until I have a signed contract in my hands that will allow me to do this for a living...

Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V
I just found out I probably need a new OT. Holler at your $150 dollar tranny from mercury magnetics. Yikes. Thanks Trace Elliot for using crap.
I had a Trace Elliot Vellocette that kept blowing different parts. This was back in the day when Jeff Bober of Budda Amps was still doing repair work. every time it blew up, I took it to Jeff and he upgraded the parts and Budda-fied that amp. It was quite a mean little amp...perfect for the studio.
I sold it when I thought I was getting married. :(

so you escaped?
yeah, aparently the rest of the thing is a brick so for the most part Trace Elliot did a pretty fair job of building it for Orange. The Input transformer is huge, and then they put this dumpy little OT in there. Oh well, at least it's not a 5K Marshall Handwired with the exact same crappy OT. I can sell some gear and have a rock solid reliable OT now, and I know that the newer EI's have been running hot lately so find a cooler biased tube, the common Orange/Vox heat problem.
Which Trace did you have? Man you were lucky to have Jeff Bober then, I bet it was awesome.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
yah, when they were still owned by gibson I think. The TE factory over in England, built them. They were designed by Ade somebody over at orange and then built by Trace.
The OT's are aparently the weakest link, make sure you use standby, and get cool biased EL84's. I'll let you know, A if I need a new OT and B if I get it, if it makes a difference positively in the tone.
