I know this has been rumored for a while - and maybe I have missed other threads where this has already been confirmed - but I thought this was terrific to hear from Mike McCready himself that Pearl Jam is currently working on a new record with the one and only music producer of their past, Brendan O'Brien!!

I can tell it will be amazing. I mean, he hasn't worked with them since Yield and that's maybe their best album. :)

I noticed at the end of the interview Mike saying he thinks it will be better than the last. Now I always take that with a grain of salt but the way he said it (after someone said the last will be hard to beat) I got the impression that he wasn't as happy with the last one as he let on origninally. It's funny to hear bands views of old records after the hyping period is over and they've moved on to new projects.

aNiMaL, thanks for posting the info and link . Great news. May I suggest that PJ make Unplugged the free cd we get when we early pre-order the new album. Always loved BO'B's work. Yield is absolutely amazing. Other than the fact that my Philly to Seattle flight leaves in 4 hours, this is the best PJ related news I could have received today.

VERY exciting news, and pumped to hear that they are working with Brendan again. I'd be surprised if they release a record before the end of this year though, I'd guess Winter or Spring of 09.

Yeah, i understand that concept but I was thinking more along the lines that he didn't really like the last record that much. Which would be cool to hear him say. Too much love from the band for that one. I want to hear a little negativity about what they didn't like about it.

they couldn't have picked a better time, it pains me to think that they might have a new album/tour when i'll be studying abroad in Australia this spring. how cruel would THAT be?

how big does this make the final date of the tour 6/30/08 at Great Woods??

It should will be an epic show...

"Crown of Thorns" has never been performed in Boston..

think about THAT possibility along with an almost guarteed performance of "ARC"...

Get to this show if you have any money left!
