I'm sorry, it has been confirmed within the last hour by Bobby's daughter, Chloe, that Bobby Weir has indeed passed away. It sounds like cancer got our dear friend. Thank you Bobby, for the decades of magical music you bestowed upon the world, both with the Grateful Dead and also via your many other solo and group projects. Bobby, please say "hello" to everyone up there with you. Lord, is Heaven going to sound sweet tonight...

Glad to have seen Dead and Co. a small handful of times over the last few years, having never been into the Dead back in the day.  May he rest in peace.

Sad day for sure. I saw the Dead numerous times over the years. Messing up the lyrics on Truckin' most nights always made me smile. We don't need no stinkin' teleprompters. The true troubadour. Always on the bus. Love ya Bob! RIP

Very sad, Bob and his music were a big part of my music experience growing up. My Mom loved the Dead and it was played a lot in my house as a kid. I was fortunate to be able to take the family to one of the Fare Thee Well shows in Chicago in 2015. A few years later our father/daughter dance at my oldest daughter's wedding was Ripple.

RIP dear Bobby.  Got to first see you at age 15, of which I'll always have Dozin' At the Knick as a reminder of.  You were mesmerizingly egoless at everything you did; in a world of musicians who wanted to be the best, you weren't here for that.  Instead you were here for for the music, for the adventure, and most of all, for us.  Thanks for the endless musical enjoyment and the family you helped create for me.

May the four winds blow you safely home.
I'm like an opening band for your mom.

    RIP Bobby.

I never saw them live but I have grown to enjoy and respect their music.

Me and My Uncle was one that came to me that I absolutely love.

RIP Bobby. I have fond memories of seeing the Grateful Dead in the late 80s, early 90s. Merriweather Post Pavilion was the best. The Deadheads would set up their tents in the woods behind the venue (before all the crackdown on camping). The after show parties in the woods were so fun.

I had 'Dead head' friends. I was a metal head. If I caught on, I would have went to shows. My loss. Never too late to take a ride. My buds seemed a bit too spaced out and threw the word 'magical' around a little too much. I partly understand now. Usually late to the party.

I had a coworker musician that appreciated all music. Went to a dead show and was explaining it to another deadhead. I was listening. He was going off saying they played "darkstar" and how great it was. I always appreciated his taste in music. Looking to him after the deep dead convo. He turned to me and said they all sounded thr same!
RIP and thanks for continuing to be a greater part of my soundtrack of my life.

^^^Me and My Uncle is a great song too. Fun story about gambling and guns...
