This seems fair to me. In the late 6os/early 70, I Iived in San Francisco while working at a minimum wage job. That's not possible today. Doing things to make some of our cities affordable again seems like a great idea to me. And feasible.
Mamdani told CBS New New York back in September that he would pay for free buses, along with his other democratic socialist policies, in part, by increasing the corporate tax rate to 11.5% -- the same as New Jersey -- and instituting a flat 2% tax rate for individuals earning $1 million or more.
"My vision for making the most expensive city in the United States of America affordable is actually one that benefits all of us," he said.

The media is acting surprised because they created a false narrative around why Trump won, which was because of his economic messaging, and not because 7 years old were identifying as cats and pooping in litter boxes. Although I wasn't living in SF during that decade, I had friends who did. 1980s San Francisco (along with the 1950s) was one of the greatest decades in that fine town. Culture was thriving, tourism was strong (maybe too strong in the most popular spots), jobs were plentiful, and there was still affordable housing available for the average person. Hochul only won by six points. Democratic presidential candidates used to win here 63-37. Last year it was 56-43.
