Pretty sure if it happened to me, I’d blurt out “Rats”. I do love that song live, but after the show I’d probably be pretty pissed at myself for not coming up with something else like Sad, Alone, Education, etc.

I think it's best not to overthink it. Just say the first thing that comes to mind. It's often the best choice, and definitely in this case.
This is a great question. Has to be something youve never heard. Something played infrequently enough to be worth the request but not so specific that you're the only person on earth that wants to hear it. I think I've settled on one I've seen a few others mention : Red Mosquito

Wrong choice: I'll say "Grievance," because it already has been done. Also wrong: smart-ass requests like "Freebird," although I bet Mike would immediately bust that out if prompted.
All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.

rarity wise, I'd probably say Drifting... always liked that tune and only 6 all time plays. but if it could be a song they've never played, I'd go with their cover of Someday at Christmas from the 2004 single, weird pick but I always liked it and would like to see a live debut.
song to not pick, probably something newer and more obscure, so probably something off Gigaton.

Gone because it's my favorite song that I don't think I have a chance of ever hearing, though I would have probably said that about Other Side, Hold On and Unemployable so you never know. Interesting how, if I recall correctly, the person responsible for getting Other Side on the set actually requested Off He Goes which they ended up playing next for Ed's friend. I wonder what the thought process was for choosing that specific song rather than taking the Light Years layup. Also, thanks for taking Grievance off the list @Shaindli1

I love Gone and I also don't think it's beyond the realm of possibilities. It can get played. If they tour next year, it's #Avocado20 and we should get as many avo tracks on the setlists.
This is likely my choice as well since I don't think they'd play the song I would think of first.

Yellow Ledbetter comes to mind simply because I doubt they've ever played it mid show. On the other hand, I'm not sure I could take all the booing and a massive beer shower, so I'll go with "Falling Down".
Right choice: Something insanely rare yet also a great song. Something for all the hardcore PJ fans. One of those songs that always makes you pull out that bootleg because it's the only time you've heard it. If I had to pick one... Otherside
Wrong choice: Anything that's been played over 5 times.
All Those Yesterdays. Requested it on here to be played in the U.K. for the last few tours but no luck. It’s never been played in the U.K. before (we didn’t get a Yield tour), so the vast majority of us have it as a gap in our “list of songs seen live”. Great song as well
If I could summon the strength to keep my wits about me, I’d yell Comes Then Goes. Knowing they won’t play that my backup would be Light Years.
But assuming I’m four beers deep and the pressure gets to me, I bet I’d yell Sad or Severed Hand.

And who doesn't love Rats?
Grievance was a great choice though. Love that song

With some notice, I’d go with Fatal as I’ve never seen it live and it’s awesome.
