The bit is, they are supposed to be promoting production here, but it’s more expensive now to build her vs keeping things the way they are.

    They can’t do anything right.

We cannot build most things here. That ship sailed decades ago. To suggest otherwise is complete business denial. It is politics. Say what you want the voters to hear. It is a dirty business and, Trump does dirty well. Do not hate the player, hate the game.
I’ll do both thank you very much

manufacturers don't want to have to pay americans to build things when they can pay overseas workers pennies on the dollar to make it.

Even Maher said something to the effect of we aren't seeing anything too negative YET. Remember that August 1 deadline? Of course it hasn't screwed anything up yet.

‘Oh, you know, by the 4th of July… the economy was going to be tanked by then,’ and I was kind of like, ‘Well, that seems right to me,’" Maher said.

You have to be pretty stupid to think that the effects of tariffs would show up and be in full force in five/six months.  I don't give credit for dumb people becoming less dumb; Bill Maher specifically.  But the point of the tariffs, according to Trump, is to bring manufacturing jobs back to the US.  You aren't going to do that with 15% reciprocal tariffs with the EU.  So what exactly is the point, Shecky?  Can you actually answer a question or are you a bot that just posts articles?

Stock market has rebounded nicely, setting records recently. Coincidentally there have been a few significant trade agreements. This is not to say I’m in favor of tariffs, but the business community responded initially in the early spring and has responded differently in the summer.

Because the stock market quickly figured out it was bullshit and he was just going to move goalposts.  Now investors are waiting to see other macro signs of strength or weakness.  It's not like the market suddenly prefers protectionist policies. Are you arguing that the market is running on celebration of tariffs; that it thinks 15% reciprocals is better than free trade?

Last week, President Donald Trump did answer that question with a much-welcome executive order (EO) intended to bring back civil commitment, in other words, the ability to put people who are a danger to themselves or others in institutions, even against their will.

I’m not shocked that conservatives are excited about about locking peoples up against their will

"Could there be abuses or mistakes made regarding civil commitment? Sure, but people are dying in the streets right now, and we must trust ourselves to actively help them, without stepping over the line."

This reminds me of all the assholes that were so happy to start giving up our freedoms after 9/11.  It's only going to be temporary, it's the right thing to do etc. I hope my padded cell isn't too close to Hal's.

Homeless person tax. Can’t pay it? Shipped off to a labor camp to pick fruits and vegetables, do highway paving, litter pick up, clearing fields for planting, etc.
