    I love the way this is framed when this administration states Maduro has been captured! Was he a fugitive on the run was he hiding in a hole in the ground or was he not basically kidnapped. Maduro is no angel and he thought sizing control of the country was ok but I’m not sure how USA will run Venezuela in the interim?

    Why the hell should the US run Venezuela, or just go into it and kidnap its leader and just take over?? This is what Russia and Nazi Germany does! Now it's what the US does. 
    Trump obviously has NEVER cared about the freedom of Venezuelans. Promoting democracy is obviously not his goal at all. Even if it were, that's not how democracy is successfully, ever.

    This is about oil. Trump and his friends will jump in, pay off the politicians, have Shell/Chevron (or some other company) build modern wells and refineries, and then reap billions in oil money. It is no secret that Venezuela has not been a safe place for many years. It is not like other countries have corrupt leaders and boats running drugs to the US. They just do not have oil reserves.

    Perhaps under other administrations there has been a true desire for democracy in countries with a dictatorship, but not this one. I guess the silver lining is that this type of industrial development might help the citizens with more opportunities for jobs. But it is not altruistic, it is driven by profit. Every negotiation is the art of the deal.

    Trump didn't get his 51st state, but now he has a fucking colony to pillage while throwing in all the mistakes of Iraq for good measure. WOW. Honestly, this barely even seems like reality.
