I’m not sure people passing out is a PJ problem. I’ve seen it at a lot of shows the last couple years. I think it’s underestimating the strength of what they’re consuming.
Every person that I’ve seen pass out of the PJ show has not been close to the rail.

I like the idea of giving out wristbands/numbers and then at say 5pm, drawing a number. If they draw #200? Then #200 is FIRST IN LINE, #201 is SECOND IN LINE, and so on. Seems pretty simple.

Nobody needs to sleep on the streets for 48 hours.
EVERYBODY gets a fair chance at the rail.
No chance of people cutting in line. IN THEORY.

Other bands use a similar system. Correct?

Springsteen did it when the whole floor was g.a. and there was a 500 person pit. Worked great.

Yeah, it seems to me there are better ways to run this GA LINE. Having people sleep on the streets and POLICE THEMSELVES? That's just ridiculous.

I saw a video on IG of Ed spotlighting the front row and calling out the regulars who keep them on their toes. I assume he was seeing the same faces for nearly a month lol. Maybe the band is in on it haha
That was in Pittsburgh. He was mentioning how great the community is and how people travel to see them. And how we are all going to miss each other when it ends. I don’t know the exact wording but it was nice. He was definitely giving recognition to those that travel to all the shows. When the Pitt2 bootleg comes out I will listen to the exact wording.
No he was definitely praising the audience and the folks up front. Like I said, I think they like seeing familiar faces and obviously know the friendships and relationships that have grown out of it. It was right before Faithful and looks like he handed something (harmonica maybe?) to a women in the front.
Yes, Ed has seen these faces at many shows throughout the entire DM tour ‘24/25. They are known to gather, reconnecting from around the country/world, for PJ tours. They have built relationships with security too. All that being said, Ed does say this speech before Faithfull regularly. But he was recognizing their connection with each other (missing each other after the tour) as well as their “faithfulness” to the band.

And all of us who are not on the rail who also travel and meet up and have meaningful relationships are chopped liver? You like to sleep on a pillow made of concrete, ok, but that does not make you a better fan. Let others experience the rail too. Stop being a "regular" up front. It would be nice to see other faces in the tour videos.

That’s weird I remember back when 10C decided to lot out rows 1&2 & 9&10 the reason given was that the band was tired of seeing the same folks up front at their shows! But now it’s not? So which is it?

Why do we keep beating around the bush?  People know each other, people come up with plans to have a few wait in GA line while others are in merch line or sleeping in their hotel or still traveling, by the time the show starts the five original people have likely turned into 15 people.  This happens at PJ, this happens at other shows, and it will never stop with the current system.

The real question is what would these rail rider folks have done if there was GA in say 1998 or 2003 when this band was in their prime destroying cities on a nightly basis? I don’t think they would know what to do with themselves…

Getting GA tickets to most shows isn’t too hard to do if you want to hustle, but doing so for 2025 Pearl Jam as a 40+ year old adult is wild to me- especially if these folks were seeing shows 20+ years ago. But hey if spending your vaca days sitting on the pavement hoping you get a pick from Mike or Ed to sweat on you I guess good for you enjoying crowded space and inferior sound 🤷

Wrigley 1 2024 & Atlanta 2 2025 both had people go down right up front. Wrigley was booze, Atlanta didn’t appear to be due to booze. Met the 2 sourest fans I’ve ever encountered at that Wrigley show too. I was row 3 and they were in a group some rail, some row 2. Man was irritated that I had managed to get a GA ticket on F2F because he had been trying to get more for his friends and couldn’t. Woman with the same group didn’t seem to think I deserved to even be in row 3 because lining up at 2pm apparently wasn’t enough time put in. Imagine being 2nd row pit at Wrigley Field and still being that sour 🤣

I think Ed is sincere when he talks about the people up front.  But sincere in the way like when he says the band will be back real soon to whatever town they’re playing that night.

Why pick on Julie simply because she explained something? She's not even part of the rail group!
