    This 100% happens!

TBH I think the roll in at lights and shove your way to the front is far worse than any things the regular rail riders do. I'd be aggro about that too if I spend 24 hours waiting for my spot
Advice to all who are physically able (and recognizing that some of us are bigger than others): stand your ground. These people are counting on not meeting resistance. Usually it's enough to just hold your ground. Sometimes, you have to bare some fangs and get a little physical. If you see a smaller person getting pushed around near you, step up on their behalf. In my experience, these people give up when they get pushed back with intent.
As a giant man, it's a little dicey when there's a woman trying to squeeze through. Not a good look getting "a little physical" with a tiny woman.

My favorite bit is when they squeeze through, calling for their "friend" lol. Happened at Ohana with spectacular results😂

    STAAAACYYYYY!🤣

Me and 2 other guys started calling for "Stacy" to come meet them, but to no avail. They mysteriously gave up on "Stacy" without a HINT of urgency. They just stood next to us for the remainder of the set.

I guess they weren't that close with "Stacy" 😉
The number of people trying to bully their way to the front at Ohana was absolutely ridiculous. We stood our ground and thankfully, when tempers flared a bit, people around us helped push back a couple jackasses trying to push their way towards the barrier.

At GA shows in general, that’s probably why I’ve seen more woman on woman near combat situations than man to woman.

I've only had one time when a woman tried to do this, and she actually got past me because I thought she was returning to her spot at the front from the bathroom. I asked her, "Were you up there already?" She was too honest. She said, "I just want to be closer." I said, "That's not how this works," and gently sent her backwards. The other people she had pushed past behind me gave me a round of applause. This woman was not that tiny (and was also quite drunk).

Anyway, I'm talking about the people-- in my experience, exclusively male-- who just try to bully their way forward with brute force. They shall not pass. As the song says, "Don't mean to push, but I'm being shoved." Shove me, and I will respond in kind, and these dudes are usually not prepared for it because they're expecting no resistance.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

I saw that in Seattle 1 & 2, Philly 1 & 2 & Baltimore this year. Many had tents in GA while they also had chairs in the first 20 or so in the early merch line. Every hour or so going to and fro the merch line & GA line. There is also a certain few who were on that rail that were also hanging out at the pre parties during the afternoon. This one dude even organized the event! Not kidding. How he was there for 4+ hours at the party and later that night secured a spot in front between Jeff & Ed, is messed up!

I think this who thread is a mis-information ploy by the rail elites.  They argue back and forth and it discourages others from even attempting to line up early because they think it will be too much of a hassle.  Well done, elites.  Well done.

This one dude even organized the event! Not kidding. How he was there for 4+ hours at the party and later that night secured a spot in front between Jeff & Ed, is messed up!
That was me, my bad.    I needed to know what kind of contact lenses Ed was wearing.
From up close, I was really struck by how intensely blue his eyes are. I thought maybe he was a Fremen, but I suppose they could be colored lenses.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

Raleigh 1 will be my first time in the pit after 25 years of reserved seating for PJ, if I just come when doors open how far back do you think I’ll be?
    At best? 4 or 5ish. At worst? 9 or 10ish? Thoughts, @PJNB?
Stone side 4-5 I think is accurate. Middle to left 9-10 very possible.
In my experience entering at or after doors, I generally end up five people back from the stage in the center. It always amazes me.
Sounds amazing to me. I am very excited.
  • Should have seen the carry on at the Gold Coast show when it was delayed due to electrical storm. So many "adults" absolutely furious "Green Bands" got let in at the same time as Ten Clubbers. These same people had no issue pushing past other ten club members, including myself and my 15-year-old daughter, to get closer to the front. People actually complaining a woman, who was clearly in distress, pushing past to get out of the long hallway we were stuck in at the stadium. It was stifling in there. She was seen to by paramedics and was fine.

Lots of Aussie fan club members, as well as travelling ones, acting entitled, somehow seeing it as their right to be close to the stage at every show. Even when it is a show delayed by a storm. Usually, it's just to make sure they have somewhere to unfurl their sign asking for something from the band, a song, a tambourine, a drumstick etc. It is weird, toxic behaviour that does sometimes affect other concert goers. It was my hometown show - first in 10 years - and I felt no more entitled to a spot than anyone else.

I do wish Ed wouldn't interact with people with signs. You get some clown holding up a huge sign, that they aren't even allowed to bring in, blocking people's views. Ed sees said massive sign and interacts. One woman at Sydney 1 had a huge black sign, security threatened to kick her out if she didn't put it down. She did briefly. Ed saw the sign being held up later, rewarded her with a tambourine. This same woman took off her shirt and was trying to get it signed.
I am tall enough that not much bothers my view, but many people aren't. It is something the band shouldn't encourage.

As someone mentioned earlier heaps of rubbish left behind by these people. In Sydney it was at least stacked up around the bin. Far too many large items to fit in the bin. It was an issue at 3 shows that I saw, Melbourne shows seems to be an exception.

It would be great to go back to seated venues, with better sound, but I understand playing one or two stadium shows is far more profitable.

Whenver I hear of Stacy, always steers me to this.  Maybe it was Brian Fallon in disguise

haha yes! me too. this song was in daily rotation 5yrs ago. when my daughter was an infant, she would pretty much only fall asleep if this song was on. she still sings: "stacy! i want to take you to the movies.." all the time

Side note: there sure is a whole bunch of trash left behind after every single GA line.

Sometimes it's just a little, sometimes it's a LOT. And untold plastic bottles mixed in with trash. More coffee cups & to-go boxes than you can shake a stick at.

On top of abandoned air mattresses, coolers, foldable chairs, and other ephemeral items.

Wonder how the band would feel if they saw it first hand at around 6pm every day of show?? 🤔
The queues I've been in have been tidy. People make a point of collecting debris and put it in the bin. I've not seen mess. But that's my view at Europe shows
Manchester in the summer was awful - just stuff left everywhere as we went in and im fairly sure I remember outside Ziggo in previous years the same. Its definitely become a problem from what ive seen.

I've only been on the rail once for Pearl Jam.  I got in line about 30 minutes before the doors opened.  Got in.  Took a piss.  Bought a water.  Got the end of the rail.
