Raleigh is very spread out and the venue is anyway outside of the city so folks can save and stay just about anywhere within a certain radius. I booked the Red Roof in north Raleigh for 80$ a night, free parking. Only 4 miles from the venue.
So true -- those who got the Ramada will enjoy being able to walk back to the hotel after the show without dealing with Uber hell. But those who want to still hang out after would be better off staying downtown.

If you're at the Red Roof you're right by Crabtree Valley mall so lots of food options. There's a good little sushi joint down Glenwood called Sushi Mon -- small place with a limited menu but very good (a little pricey). North Hills shopping mall is the next exit down and has, in my opinion, better dining options than Crabtree. Lake Boone is between your hotel and the venue, and has some good dining options -- Chicken Salad Chick, Chubby's Tacos, Village Deli, Sushi Thai...
True. It's a short drive from the venue and really pretty much whatever I need. I used to live on Oberlin across from Cameron Village and I remember taking the bus to that mall!
I miss this one particular restaurant in downtown Raleigh called Fiction Kitchen. We used to go there all the time. Must swing by when I roll into town.
Oh cool! Yeah they recently relocated -- they are not downtown anymore unfortunately. They're off Capital Blvd.
    So more parking hopefully?
they are really really good. Including the desserts. Perhaps we can take over one evenings as a PJ contingent!

I booked rooms for both nights when the rumors started, I got Four Points by Sheraton for N1 and Ramada for N2, mainly because I want to drink and i cant if  have to drive home (30 min. away). Unfortunately the four points was $250 for one night. The ramada was cheaper for N2 at around $140ish.  I thought maybe walking would be better than having to deal with uber and judging from the comments I may be right?  I may end up letting go of the Ramada for n2 and not drinking and driving home that evening to save some money.  If i end up cancelling the N2 Ramada reservation I can post here first and let you know a time so someone can grab it maybe.

Should I cancel my Sheraton reservation and get something cheaper a bit further away and use uber or is it going to be hell?
If you book at Red Roof I can give you a lift to the arena. And anyone else who needs it.

That’s ok. Plenty of good choices in Raleigh, downtown and otherwise. I was carless when I lived there & friends always offered to drive me. Time to pay it forward!

After state and canes games the uber wait times can get a little ridiculous. But there's that new bar The Local (basically just the Backyard Bistro with a facelift). I've had success walking there and having a beer while waiting for an uber.

Yeah that's still a few years away....Bru's in Wade Park is decent bar food and pre-game spot, and I imagine lots of PJ folks will go there. If weather is nice they'll have the big bay doors open.

I would think a timed drop would be way too risky. I would say y'all would either have to walk in together, or you'd have to trust a stranger with your Ticketmaster login...

I actually have this issue where I have 4 tickets to N1...2 in GA and 2 in FLR4. But I'm close to the folks using my FLR tickets so will give them the log in. I don't really care about rail so could theoretically just wait and walk in together though.

Anyone familiar with the Raleigh-Durham airport? My wife has been reading that check-in and passing through security is notoriously slow. Is that correct?

We're trying to book our flight out and they are brutally early and we're hoping we don't have to get there even earlier than the airport website is saying.

RDU tends to be unusually busy airport for the early morning flights. It's pretty normal after that. Also I40 can be a slog depending on the time of day but probably OK in the very early morning to get there. I think the TSA App has the security wait times for all airports so you can see for yourself. What day are you heading out because Duke and UNC graduation is Sunday so Monday is going to have more people that normal? If heading out Monday prepare for a cluster and be happy if it doesn't happen.

This.... I had to fly out after graduation weekend one time and it was hell. I'm TSA though so was able to cruise right through. What airline are you flying? Southwest has its own terminal. Also if you are checking a bag keep in mind the kiosks on the curb are run by the airport (for a fee) and not the airline....those are inside.

I don't think check-in and security are that slow compared to other places but again I'm TSA so can't speak to the experience of general public.

Thanks for the information. Some good intel there. We're departing the morning after the second PJ show. We do have Nexus, and that allows us the same access as TSA. Although we sometimes have to convince some agents of this because Nexus isn't as common the further you are away from the Cdn border.

I have no problem giving my login, did it plenty of times this year and last without any issues. I know not everyone is comfortable with it so I’d just ask to be scanned in when the GA line is let in at 5:30 or whatever.

So you never had any issues with someone else loading tix into their apple wallet? I had read that it may have caused some problems for the person sharing their login info (or vice versa). This may be the route I end up going. Glad to hear there weren't any problems.

I had issues in Baltimore with friends loading my tickets into their Apple wallet. First time this happened to me. Fortunately we were all able to meet up and go in together so I could get them in. I assume they could have used the tickets direct from my Ticketmaster account if needed.

Looking to swap my N1 reserves for N1 GA if anyone would rather have seats

I don't have GA but if I did I would swap.  Hypothetically speaking how would we even swap?  Timed drops?  Are the BOTs doing their BOT thing this year like last year?
I have no problem giving my login, did it plenty of times this year and last without any issues. I know not everyone is comfortable with it so I’d just ask to be scanned in when the GA line is let in at 5:30 or whatever.
So you never had any issues with someone else loading tix into their apple wallet? I had read that it may have caused some problems for the person sharing their login info (or vice versa). This may be the route I end up going. Glad to hear there weren't any problems.
Login share does not require adding the ticket to the wallet. Adding to Apple wallet used to work, in which case the ticket holder could just login on the other person's phone and then logout after saving to wallet without sharing the actual login info. That usually won't work anymore (it might work on android), hence the need to share the login to be able to pull up the tickets in the app without saving to wallet. Where login sharing could cause a problem is if the ticket owner's TM account has not yet been "linked" with their own Apple ID (which occurs by saving a ticket to their own wallet), and the recipient of the login saves the ticket to the wallet, which would cause the original TM account to be linked to the recipient's apple ID. To avoid that scenario, the recipient should not try to save to the wallet.

I’ve had issues loading my own tickets into my Apple wallet.  I get an error message saying they don’t match my Apple ID.  I have no idea why that happens but I just use the Ticketmaster app instead.   I think the Apple wallet loads faster and helps with getting people through the doors quicker so they push it for people to use.  But you really don’t need to use the wallet.

Yeah I had put my tickets for this tour into my apple wallet but then took them out just in case. In the event I can't make it to my show, I'll more than likely be proving login info for someone to assure that they get the tickets. I suppose we'll see how it goes.

Yeah the wallet method has some issues. Last time I tried that was Vegas and it wouldn’t activate. But logging into TM and using the ticket in the TM app has continued to work reliably.

Just pulled the trigger on two airline tickets for us to fly down from NJ for Raleigh 2.  Already had the hotel booked based on the rumors and was lucky enough to score tickets in the lottery.  We’ve driven through NC many times on our way to other places but have never stayed longer than for a night before driving on so we’re looking forward to having a few days to check out the area.
