Landover, Maryland. 1981. Ticket was $9.00. I still have the ticket stub. My friend’s older sister took us. I felt so cool getting to hang out with a bunch of older teenagers.

Went with my mom I was 9 years old. She took me to a bunch of country shows in the late 80s early 90s. It was at the Hampton Coliseum the same venue I saw Sturgill Simpson last week a little over 39 years to the same day.

The first live music I saw was a fairly short performance by a group of folk singers called The New Christie Minstrels, but that was incidental to going to see the christening of the first commercial jet airplane, a DC-8, purchased by United Airlines.  But I marked "other" for the first actual concert I went to which was in 1965, the Beach Boys/ Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels/ Jackie Lee, so pop/rock/surf, pop-rock, and R&B.
