    Yes but Disney didn’t have to license Snow White.  It was already in the public domain.  Disney is not unlike these new horror movie makers… they have really exploited the public domain to make some of their biggest hits.  Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, and The Jungle Book among them.  Even Frozen is from the public domain.
