I'm kind of over the setlist thing. I've never been a song chaser by any means, but definitely love the unknown of what they are going to play.

Early in this tour it did bother me and with six shows I definitely debated going to all of them. But they are Vegas, Chicago and Ohana so sort of hard to hate going to any of those places. That said I did do a lot of back and forth on Chicago. Vegas was too early in the run and my only sort of likes music wife just loves Ohana, so it was sort of the one to wrestle with on time and money. But I made the choice to go and honestly can't wait. I know I might not be blown away, but I suppose who knows.

Of course even if the catalog has shrunk the sets are still mostly different each night and that is still a surprise. It is also still Pearl Jam and I know we all wonder how much more we'll get. I look at the last two shows and I think tonight's was way better, but I doubt I'd turn down being at either if I could.

Maybe this is the new Pearl Jam, and we'll all debate how many we do next time, or maybe it will change back once Dark Matter cools some. But it's still pretty great to follow along and even better to be there.
Amen. Good choices, btw. I'm doing all three of those as well🤘

I would replace Lightning Bolt with Jeremy or Better Man in that encore slot.  Crowd would much favor the hits, and LB likely doesn’t do much for the hardcore fan.

Yeah. Don't know if it was the music video, or the Spawn one. I prefer the former.

When they said that a couple who had been to 57 shows made a request and then proceeded to play lightning bolt I thought who requests lightning bolt especially after 57 shows.

I will say. The band seemed to really be enjoying themselves. They seemed youthful and grateful. I think that’s a great sign. I had a blast.
  • That's a good looking setlist. Glad to see Lightning Bolt get another play at last, and still having 7 new songs in is very cool.

My expectations were high at the second 2003 Camden show.   Ed said before the encore that they were going to play a lot of requests.  Sweet?  And then the encore was:

Jeremy, Small Town, Better Man, Daughter, Alive.  Ha.
Well, those sound like the songs that the average Pearl Jam fan would request. It makes me think of when I see Jeff Tweedy and people shout out "California Stars" and "Jesus, etc."-- as if there's any chance he won't be playing those songs. I imagine them telling all their friends, "OMG! Jeff Tweedy played my request!" without realizing that he plays it virtually every night.
Austin 2 last year - the last bit of the encore was SOLAT/Jeremy/Better Man/Alive/RiTFW/Y Led - and it was amazing. The rarities earlier in the night were great too but just to play a run of songs that the whole place goes crazy for all in a row gives its own kind of special energy.

That whole set with the exception of a too-unrehearsed-to-have-bothered-with Habit was just fantastic.

At least LB is far superior to another Crack at shitty MYM. Probably best thing you can say about the encore.

Lyrically genius. I love this song and dig pretty deep for its meaning. Smashing good intro sounds to it too!

Debated on going to Indy thinking maybe they were going to do something a little different cause of the cancelled show. Almost had a Vitalogy run which I would have been sick if I missed but then it ultimately fell back to the standard DM set.  I actually wouldn’t mind Lightning Bolt. I know it gets a lot of hate but I like the changes in it.  I think I’ve only heard it twice with one being the first time they played it at Wrigley.

My point is that there are many fans who would request these songs even though there's no need to request them since they get played all the time. I wasn't commenting on the merits of the songs.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

My setlist expectations are at an all time low. Which is fine. I’m expecting more repeats than ever between the two msg and Philly shows. But I’m just grateful and lucky to be in the building for those 4 shows and I’m sure it’ll be a blast no matter what.

Seen them 30 times. Got 6 shows coming up. Went crazy chasing certain songs for many years. I’m now so ready to hear the new album and the hits and just enjoy myself.

On the one hand, 80% of Pearl Jam is still Pearl Jam ... on the other hand, I miss the extra 20% particularly when 7 of the 24 songs are the same new ones each night.  This confirms where I need to keep my expectations for the Wrigley shows ... still gonna be a great time

I think this is where you should be at, especially at this point in the band’s career. They’re still out there playing and doing it well. You might not get Whale Song or Angel played at a show but you will get a great mix of new stuff, old stuff, and maybe a little played song mixed in here and there. I can’t imagine we have too many big tours left out of this band and I am here for enjoying what we get!

agreed...exactly where I'm at. I'll hear repeats of the new stuff but that's fine. I still have Wrigley x 2 and Ohana x 2 to see Won't Tell, Got to Give, Stevie, Something Special and the album will be complete for me. That's my only goal this tour (of which I have no control)
