Here's the thing... this isn't the Oscars. There will definitely be no performance and the award itself isn't even given out on the air, so Ed has no reason to be there, much less need to worry about a speech.
I certainly hope he wins, but it won't really add to the exposure he's already received for it because most people don't pay attention to the "In awards handed out earlier ..." segments that they run going to commercials.
You are correct...they have a pre-telecast ceremony in the afternoon at the L.A. convention center, which is next store to the Staples Center...I go to the Grammys every year, but have never gone to the pre-telecast ceremony...it may be worth checking out this year!
I was hoping "Rise" would get the nomination, which would then be the best song nominated.
"Falling Slowly" gets my vote here.
Congrats to Ed though!!
and yes, Dreamgirls will probably win. Didn't that movie come out in like '03?
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”
My rhymes and records they don't get played

And if you roll like me you don't get laid.
Really? Have you heard the lyrics to Guaranteed? I just had to go have a listen since everyone is talking about it and once again they make me melt
Editing to say the song is actually giving me chills listening to it right now. But it is only 32 degrees outside so maybe that is why :P
yeah i have, and thats what i said, i want ed to win. just when people were saying Cornells songs was shit i wanted to show some love is all. But i think Guaranteeds a much better song, and so is Falling Slowly
But as a BOND SONG, You know my name is darker and better than other Bond songs...i meant in the context of why it was written
i hope ed wins it and doesn't show up. recall that jethro tull won for best heavy metal record. for the love of all things holy--this grammy committee is barely breathing and has an occasional moment of clarity--like this year with the Into The Wild nomination. PJ creeps just below the five horizons--the big well-known secret--the last band that matters. they slammed into the limelight and then chose a way out. don't fire up that lamp again.

And the comments under the video are pretty entertaining.

i thought the same thing when I saw that up there
Long enough for the clouds to fly me away
