  • Get a used Mexi Tele. Damned nice, sounds right, and great price. The '52 RI sure looks smooth, but I'd rather have a Tele that I can beat around a bit... '52 RI's are just too nice for that. My TeleBastard is a great guitar... and my total investment is like $350. Not bad...

My main guitar now is a reissue of the '72 Custom Tele. Combined with my '73 Bassman, it sounds lovely. They had to order in the tele, since they had none in stock...so I had them replace the three-saddle bridge with a regular six when the guitar came in, for intonation's sake. I had heard that there was a noticable difference in volume, when switching from the neck to the bridge pickup, with the tele. I just raised the bridge pickup and that solved that. I don't plan to put in new pickups because the stock ones sound great. I'm currently saving for one last electric, the '57 Strat reissue...mmmmmm....'57.

1957 was a great guitar year... FOR GIBSON LES PAULS!!!

What is with the horrible Strat bias on this board...???

Oh, hell... yeah, a '57 Strat would be nice to have. I just love the goldtop Pauls.

I think 1959 was a better year for Strat's and Les Pauls.

No goldtop in '59. I always thought the '59 was an overrated LP. A good guitar, but way overrated. But I agree on the Strats. I also like the funky 60's Strats. You put some pickups that have some decent output in a Strat, it's not half-bad.

  • My 1993 standard US tele, with the black pickguard. Looks darker in reality, the flash makes the green lighter and shinier.

My Epiphone Les Paul. A decent sounding fun guitar.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Les, but I LOVE the tele and strat.
A friend of mine, who just happened to be my guitar teacher for 10 odd years, has a black '73 les paul custom. He got it for $200 in the 80's from some guy in a bar. Anyways, whenever there's a weekend late-night jam I usually play it and it sounds great. All it needs is a fret job and it'll be sweet. But anyways, I DO plan on getting a les paul...just not before the strat. : )

Quick question, did you make that pedal board?
I have the same volume, wah, tuner, and distortion pedal...looking to get a whammy, line6 delay, line6 mm-4, and a mxr gate.
I also have similar dvd's, couldn't help but notice.

    Here's a cheap pre-fab that looks cool...

The small one is hella cheap, but it isn't very big. Maybe five pedals?

Anyways... there's no such thing as too many guitars. Just ask me... they call me Yngwie and I am proud.

Here I sit, bored at work so I went and searched for pedal boards. The one I want is this one....

....yet for every one great review on it, there's an equal bad review. Was wondering if you heard anything?

don't bother with the furman or for that matter the SKB. i have an SKB and i don't use the integral power supply b/c it can't run certain pedals.

do the home depot thing and make your own and spent $50 on a godlyke power supply or the like to run things.

or, for an proper lockable pedalboard, try this guy.

    http://www.indyguitarist.com
  • Well, if I was playing in an environment with dirty power, the Furman would be nice... Furman IS the industry leader in power conditioning. But for guitar pedals... I don't think it's really worth the price. Like exhausted said, just do a Home Depot job. It's cheaper, and you can get the exact dimensions you want. Then just get a good power supply.

I just wanted to send out a big thanks for all the help and advice I've received in the past couple days from everybody. I went to the indy site and his pedal boards are pretty good, but I think when I'm all set I'll just make a custom job. I'll know where I can ask for advice about power supplies and such. I like the furman because of the way you can run things in stereo and whatnot, but I imagine you can get a part for that and slap in onto a homemade board.

Stereo is nice, but it only works if you have a stereo amp or two mono amps. And you can do the same thing on your own, too. Best of luck!

They play very similar to the JS1000 series (which I love), but without the cheesy "Joe Satriani" inlay.

    I love them both! Yes...they rip :)

hey is that a Fender 2x12 cab underneath the CG?

and is that a Maz 18 that you lead guitarist has behind him? If so is it the non reverb model? Either way. DR. Z builds some sweet amps. That's good stuff. I was between that and the Orange when I bought my Orange but I couldn't find a dealer for DR. Z close buy. I think I will be buying the air brake though sometime soon.
