So I'll preface this by saying obviously this band puts on shows that are better than 99% of other artists out there and im very fortunate to have seen them many times....but night 2 wasn't really close to the show that night 1 was.
After Thursday where we saw such a great setlist (created at 4 AM as Ed said), the band playing out of their minds, Andrew Watt joining them on stage, etc I figured we were in for a treat since it was Saturday night in Vegas and usually the last show in a town is better. Also adding in the back of my mind I thought that we could maybe seen some more Binaural bday love and it being the anniversary of Chris Cornell's passing that it wasn't just going to be an ordinary show, but unfortunately it kinda was.
My main issue was all the stop downs due to Ed's voice, there was just no flow to the show with him chatting in between each song and it was a lot more than usual. I've seen 27 shows now, im quite used to Ed talking and I understand fully that it's to help out his voice due to his apparent throat issues but it never let the crowd kick it into high gear which is a shame because I feel like it could've been just as good of a crowd as night 1. Of course the EB donation portion was amazing and he gave a few nice shout outs but a few times I was literally looking down at my watch hoping he'd move it along.
I'm not what you'd call a "song chaser," I don't really have many songs I haven't seen that I desperately need to see to feel satisfied, I'd rather see songs that I enjoy even if I have before. That being said having the same show ending as night 1 (yes, I know Setting Sun is a lock), Porch and Evenflow again kinda stunk. Was hoping for more variety but looks like the set was made with Ed's voice in mind so they picked songs with extended guitar solos. I will also add Out of My Mind doesn't do much for me, i have strangely seen it 3/6 times its been played and the non die-hards in the crowd just seemed kinda confused by it. If the dropped in another rarity instead of MYM that start of the show could've rivaled night 1.
To give out some positives because I really am not trying to poo poo everything - it was great they decided to move around the Dark Matter songs within the set and despite some not loving Wreckage/Something Special I think they're great. I'd probably move Something Special to the first song in the encore or during the main set but I thoroughly enjoy all the new stuff. night 1 probably had the crowd favorites in Stevie, Upper Hand & Scared of Fear but I will take as much Dark Matter as possible at any show.
You Are might've been the best performance ive seen from them ever. You can tell they rehearsed it, Ed sounded great and finally the screens made sense! The visuals enhanced that song so much, it was so trippy. truly a PJ concert moment I'll never forget. The highlights of the show were easily having them open with Of the Girl, the entire crowd singing Garden, throwing in Severed Hand in the middle, a surprise Spin the Black Circle and the insane version of You Are.
Again really not trying to come off as an entitled fan, I'm simply giving my point of view of someone who walked into night 2 thinking we could've had like an MSG2 2010 situation after how off the charts night 1 was. I mean even Jeff posted on social media saying how great Thursday was. On the way out I asked my fiancé, who is not a die-hard fan, which show she preferred and she also said night 1 citing how special the crowd was. This show was good, better than most touring bands can do but it was lacking that special feel to put into my upper echelon of PJ shows.
All valid and some of it I agree with. Could have used a different main set closer than Porch. I really liked the night, probably enjoyed it more than N1, even though I do believe the set was not as good, but getting YLB again almost killed it for me. I love it, but how often do they play that song in back-to-backs, let alone in the same venue? With some of the different things they have done in that spot such as Smile and even Porch before Setting Sun, I was really looking forward to something like that, especially since it is such a change to have these set songs. Then they didn't even come close to it.
But they did change up the Dark Matter set really for the first time and I am glad for that. Would have been awesome to just give us the whole album in the two nights as a result, but I'll take 10 of 11. I am not a song chaser either, although I have a list, but man, I got three new songs (You Are being one), and with the standard stuff so far this year I never thought that would happen. It's funny, it's nowhere near Out of My Mind for you, but Severed Hand was at one time my White Wale and I have now heard it three out of my last four shows. I will take it every time, but when he said we don't play this that often I was sort of excited for what it would be!
The Eddie banter sort of made the night for me. I liked it and most of it was really entertaining. What really did make the night for me was You Are.
It won't be close to my favorite show, but it is far from my least favorite, and a lot of this is why live shows, and definitely Pearl Jam live shows, are so fun.
Someone mentioned it before but you have to think that roughly 65%-70% of the crowd from night one goes to night 2, not just in Vegas but in general considering the travel most are doing, going to both just seems logical. I hope PJ takes that into consideration going forward. No need to repeat anything when playing 2 nights in the same city. They can easily play 25 songs a night with zero repeats. Even with Dark Matter material, play half night one the other half night two. At the end it's two shows that make one even bigger show.

70% repeat crowd? I don’t know and I’m just guessing but I would think if 25-33% were at any two night run that would be a lot for any band
Let's not forget that most people would cheer even if Eddie told them to fuck off, so him asking who was there night 1 is not entirely a reliable and empirical analysis. I would also think less than 50% seems more realistic due to the costs for a ticket alone. The collectors and die-hards are definitely a a very visible (always in GA) and loud minority.

Yes, weirdly, some people will also cheer just because they want the people around them to think they were there both nights because they think it makes them look cooler. And cheering is contagious. Sometimes people don't even hear what is said on stage and then just cheer reflexively when they hear other people cheering.
LV2 was a privilege for me… I’m sure had things worked out, I’d have gone to night 1, but because this was the only show my daughter, Olivia, could make, this was it.
See, in 2022 I caught the band’s show in Phoenix with my wife. I learned the next day that Olivia’s boyfriend at the time asked her if she wanted to go to the PHX show but she turned him down because she wanted to see Pearl Jam with me and only with me. She was like, “If I’m going to see Pearl Jam, it’s going to be with my dad.”
i was crushed.
Had I known she wanted to go, I’d have taken her… alas.
LV2 was my chance to make it up to Olivia. This weekend was Olivia’s first time in Las Vegas, and her first Pearl Jam show.
We had a ball!
Many high points, zero low. Wreckage was the song of the night.
When it was over, I asked Olivia what she thought, and she said, “I can’t wait for the next one.”
Melts a dad’s heart.

I only made it to Night 2. 51 songs over 2 nights... 10 REPEATS! And folks on here complaining. So ridiculous. There is absolutely no fucking way for this band to please everybody.

Definitely a top 5 show for me (same with Vegas 1). Ed said his voice was having issues but it was hard to tell - still sounded great.
Loved Severed Hand and only the second time seeing Of The Girl. The new light show for You Are is fantastic as is the screen for Setting Sun.
The new songs are fantastic. So glad they played more of them. Only missing Got to Give after just two shows!
Crowd was really into it but everybody seemed totally sober - at least around us in section 27. People having a blast and enjoying themselves. Good times.

The entitled attitude of some fans is a disgrace. They should just go away. If you feel like there are too many repeats, then maybe you need to cut back on shows or not go at all.
I died. I died and you just stood there. I died and you watched. I died and you walked by and said no. I'm dead.

Such a weird stance. We’re here to discuss. If you can’t handle a few negative reactions maybe cut back on reading the threads. Simple as that.
Having now listened to both shows a handful of times, I stand by my initial reaction that n1 was an all timer and this was more "standard great". Some fun stuff, and great playing, but it doesn't really stand out from the crowd.
Noticed during You Are that it sounds like Josh has taken over the main drum machine riff, and Stone is now just playing a normal part. Hadn't noticed that before (though not sure I've heard a recording of it since Josh joined the band)

This is the only show I went to on Leg 1. Got the bootleg and have gotten most of the way through it. This bootleg CD sound outstanding!
As for the show, now that I've had a few weeks to digest it and am now getting to re-live it through the bootleg --- somebody said it earlier, it feels like Eddie is talking before almost every song! I mean that's overstating it, but it really is to the point where I feel it really interrupts the flow. "Out of My Mind" was performed decently well for how much of a rarity it is... "Severed Hand" seemed really great, and "You Are" was nice as well (one little Ed flub on vocals).
Listening to this right now. Remembering the good old days when they'd mix things up, and try things they haven't played in a while. And fuck things up instead of playing to perfection.
I'm sure it's been said a bunch of times in this forum... there's no pleasing everybody. They still mix it up remarkably well. Vegas had "You Are", "Severed Hand", "Out of My Mind"... not to mention (I believe) 8 out of 12 albums represented. And I for one prefer them playing a tighter, cleaner show. I have seen PJ be sloppy and botch more songs on average than any other live band I've ever seen... at a certain point, it does take away for me.
