Hence, why I said for a lot of us that travel(and there are a lot of us) and I can only speak for myself besides the great music the reason why I follow them are the different setlists. That's why you travel, no one wants to see the same show or know where 10/11 songs are going to be played including usually the main set closer and the show closer. DTE 3/3 in the same encore spot, I was tired of this song 10 years ago. All I'm saying is for me if this becomes the norm I'm done traveling. I can see 1 show in Chicago and be happy as the 2nd biggest reason why my wife and I follow the band will be gone and that's fine 🙂

Agree 1000%. I have tix for all Boston and MSG shows. It’s not worth the money, time, effort, to travel from Atlanta to basically see the same 30%  show, four times. Love the new album but even if they played 8 songs of VS every show, I’d feel the same. I was thinking with double shows in most cities, they would continue with what they were basically doing last tour and combining the 2 shows to ultimately be one show. Oh well..

Just got back to the hotel. My first Release, at last. Nothing As It Seems to follow was incredible.

Overall they’re playing and singing really well at the moment. They seemed pretty ramshackle for a lot of the Gigaton era, imo, and they clearly put in the hours to make this tour great (with the possible exception of Last Exit tonight but they made it through). Waiting for Stevie was great, you’d never guess it was the first time.

I didn’t expect them to play Seven O’Clock ever again, that was a curveball.

The screens are a nice touch. As is the overhead projector at the encore.

Just got back to the hotel. This was the only show I won tickets to in the 10C lotto and my first time seeing them on the West Coast.

Tonight was an awesome show. When I heard the opening wails of Nothing As It Seems I told myself every penny spent on travel was already worth it and the rest of the night I would be playing with house money.

The new songs are incredible live. I wasn’t as in love with DM as everyone else when it first dropped but I certainly am now. To be there for the debut of Stevie was so special. Have a feeling Upper Hand and Setting Sun are songs I am going to be chasing for the rest of my days after this tour.

They played the standards incredibly well, as well. Maybe it’s a Northwest thing. But in all my shows on the East Coast / Midwest in the last decade or so I’d put tonight’s version of Daughter (really great WMA tag) and Not For You (well done Stone) up there w any of those I’ve seen. I’d encourage anyone to go see them up here. Will add a future Seattle run to my bucket list.

One downer was Seven O’Clock but that was if we take Ed’s word for it a request. Half my section was sitting down by the end of that song.

Welp, not sure how this is going to sit w/ a lot of us that travel and know where roughly 10 songs are played each night and that's not even counting Porch which, is the main set closer almost 80% of the time. Only 3 shows but, this really isn't a good sign. We all want to see all the new songs but, not in the same spot every night and if it's tied into the screen then that sucks!
Agreed. That is the most important thing I pay attention to when I decide to travel to see the band. If they keep playing the same songs in the same spots, I agree with you...I will have to all of a sudden start hating Pearl Jam, instead of liking it.  Yes, it sucks, but we have to have principles.  And, yes, we all want to see all the new songs, but if we didn't have to see Something Special, and could replace it with Tremor Christ, that would be ok too.

Just got home and got my year 8 old into bed. He was wiped out, but had a great time. A little sad to see so much complaining on here. Words written on a setlist is one thing, and all of this is subjective and to each their own, but I was in the room and that was maybe the best PJ show I’ve seen of the 9 times I’ve had the privilege to go since 1996. They sound GOOD right now. Eddie is hitting the notes. They seem fucking thrilled to be out there right now. I knew when several of the songs were coming and I loved every second of it. Seriously, just enjoy the show, people. This is such a gift.

This. I was in the room too and just reading the setlist to judge the show is so unfair. Bunch of whiners. The energy in that room was incredible tonight, everyone was having a great time, and they sounded amazing. Really special show. Privilege to be there. I'm stoked for Sacramento--I'm looking forward to hearing more DM songs and the rest, whatever they are.

Agreed! I can only afford one, but I thinking about getting in debt for a second Melb concert or Goldy. For me, any set list they do is a joy.

How many bands change up their setlists the way PJ does these days? Seems repetition is far and away the norm. Meanwhile, Pearl Jam is repeating like 16% of a concert. I can live with that. Also, my son's favorite song by them is Wreckage, so this practically guarantees he gets to see/hear it :)
Exactly this! I’ve been to shows knowing the band I’m seeing might only change up 4 songs, but the rest of the 20+ song set will be in the same place. And guess what? I still had the best f***ing time 🙂 One good part of knowing what’s coming is you can get super psyched for the ones you love (although with PJ that’s every song right? Right?? 😉), & also know where you need to ride out the show a little with the ones you might not.
All in all though, just be in the moment & lap up the gigs. Who knows how many more PJ tours we have left?…

Hmmm, promoting a new album in combination with when it was actually released for the first time since 2013 and they are actually committed to playing 8 - 9 songs per show. Seems good to me. And does it matter if they altered between DM songs and classics just so some of you won't know when it's going to be played even if they're going to be played anyway? I think it's better they're grouping the new songs because they flow on the album so well. People were always complaining during Gigaton and LB tours how the new songs killed the vibe. Problems of the privileged I guess.

Yes it is very different for me. This is not about how many songs off the new album they are playing just that the surprise is gone for over 20% of the show with exact song locations.

At the start of a show you do not know what songs will be played so to say they were going to be played anyway we are not entitled to that info so the surprise is still there. Now when Scared of Fear hits in the 5 spot you know what is following. I am not even that bothered by Setting Sun closing every show. Just wish they would mix up the songs a bit more.

It is a long tour and we are only 3 shows in. Looking back at the end of the year I bet we will all be laughing at some of our posts.

Is this whiny and bitching? Maybe I am the problem... lol.

Great setlist and this is their best tour in a long time!  I will take them playing at a higher level with some repeats over them flubbing through a bunch of obscure songs so some baby gets to cross it off their wishlist EVERY day of the week.  This is not for the entitled whiny fan.
