At first I wasn't as keen on it as everyone else, but 4 spins in and I'm starting to dig it more and more.

Glad people are as excited about this one as I am about others. Didn't grab me at the cinema at all really. Subsequent listens are making it more enjoyable and I hope it's just a slower burner that lets me find the treats you guys have in it in due course. Because if this many fellow fans are raving about it there's something there.

They haven’t made a song like this in a long time.  This song alone is why they should still be making music.  Some of the songs on the album are subpar but this song is outstanding.

I’m late to the discussion of the new album. I think this is the best lyrical and musical album PJ has ever released. Upper Hand might be the best PJ song ever. Criticize if you like but that song is fantastic.

Love the song, the only snag on it was the transition from the intro to the first verse is clunky.  Has kind of a Where the Streets Have No Name buildup in the intro where you get ready for some uplifting moment to come, but then moves into a Black/Yellow Ledbetter type verse.  Love both parts, just feel like they don't fit together.
The transition to the first verse is really jarring. The intro is interesting, then the song dies on its ass for the verse. The chorus is good, but the outro solo sounds like it belongs in another song. It’s like 3 different songs; they’re all good, but I’m not sure about it as a whole.

I think this will open a few shows this tour.

    Then go right into Stevie.

The intro sounds like they wrote walk-on music for themselves.

I love the song.  One thing that is interesting is how they speed the tempo up at the end.  Similar to how Pink Floyd speeds the tempo at the end of "On the turning away".
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

Of The Girl is great too.
