Shocked this wasn’t released as the lead single

I liked and enjoyed ALL of the songs on the album to a fairly similar degree which is good and bad, none really stood absolutely head and shoulders above, but none were skips at all for me.

Waiting for Stevie might be my least favorite though, at least probably in the bottom 3 tracks but I know a TON of people said it was their favorite.  Its hard to choose a top 3 or bottom 3 because they're all so close together in how good they are.

The awesome thing about PJ is their ability to capture so many different tastes in music that everyone enjoys vastly different songs of theirs.

I’m not,  it’s Pearl Jam.  There fan favourite songs are rarely the lead single.

Should it have been?  That’s another story.

well, just got to this song starting from the beginning of the album. Had to stop at the end to come on here and say this song is amazing! Not sure how anyone could say otherwise. Only listened this one time and already thinking this is an all timer!

My early favourite, however I love them all. So to have this at the top is saying something. After the theatre listen I had a big smile on my face, when Stevie finished I turned to my sister and said ‘how good was that one!?’

Early favorite here as well. The guy beside me called it best song since Vitalogy. I found myself agreeing. Looking forward to more listens.

This song is top notch.  Love the way Ed sings this one. I'm guessing this is a Stone song.

Love this song! Whole thing is awesome, but the last 90 seconds are fantastic, all Mike and Matt.

Based on interviews, sounds like Ed and Andrew worked up the skeleton of it during the Earthling sessions. The only song that really came from before the band got together to record.

    Loving the album!

It was a couple of days ago now but I just remember the ending being so urgent and propelling. Well that’s what I thought in my head. Can’t wait to listen again!

I may be wrong but I thought I read somewhere it’s a song EV wrote whilst him and Andrew Watt were waiting for Stevie Wonder to vacate the studio whilst recording Earthling. Hence the song title

Yeh, its funny this one is getting lots of love, while I also see comments like this album sounds like Earthling 2 as a criticism.
When in reality the only song that originated from those sessions is the one people seem to love the most.

Yeah, lots of good songs. It was in the moment at the cinema, and as I said I need to digest more. It just felt good then and there to get my teeth kicked in by something that really reminded me of the PJ I fell in love with. I haven't felt that way about a pj song on first listen since the 90´s.

I love all the songs you mentioned.

They weren’t waiting for him to leave, they were waiting for him to arrive. He played harmonica on “Try” off of Earthling.

I could see how people feel this way but I love it for what it is.  Actually gave me chills during first listen in the record store.

Yes! I hear so much in this one. In Hiding, the opening of The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary, Soundgarden/TOTD. While I don't think it sounds like SOLAT or Breath, I see how it is being likened to them. I just think it is more accurate to liken it to Singles era PJ. Parts/notes of the outro solo have that feel.

Then other parts of the album are so clearly Pink Floyd, Tom Petty, U2, Hendrix, and then all 11 other PJ albums thrown into a blender. A couple of notes here or there or the inflection of a few words.
