Any ideas on how to deal with where to sleep at night? Could a rented car be an option?
You could try a campground nearby. Doheny campground is booked up but there are still sites at San Onofre State Beach. If you have a car, you could get to the shuttle site or drive in each day. We'll be driving our camper there for the third year in a row. When the Dana Point hotel prices went through the roof, it became cheaper for us to drive from Montana and more fun to have our camper there too!

Check out reservecalifornia.com for sites if you decide to go that route. Good luck!

Last time I went we stayed in Mission Viejo and took ubers to the site. Go early. Eat early. We put a blanket down in front of the soundboard and had great views of both stages. By 6pm or so the place gets packed. We went to the Rib Joint after the performances ended and then had no problems getting an uber back an hour or so later. It is a great festival in an amazing setting. Only complaint is that the drinks inside were weak and expensive.

I stay all the way down in San Clemente... (can't pay 10.000 dollars for a suite in dana point...) I'm guessing no other people live down there and want to share an Uber back every evening? Google said it was 10km... so worse case scenario I can "jog" it... unless there are no sidewalks (?) and it's riddled with crime in the night...

Crime is not going to be an issue in San Clemente. I'm not familiar with San Clemente, specifically. I did live in southern Orange County years ago, and most of it has a very "planned" feel. An advantage to this is that there are abundant sidewalks.

I have a room in San Clemente as well.  I'm hoping to stay with a friend in Dana Point, but have the room booked just in case.  I planned on walking some of the way and uber the rest.  So, sharing a ride could be sweet.

San Clemente is about a 25 minute bike ride from Doheny Beach. There are multiple bike rental places in San Clemente. that could be an option getting back and forth from the festival for you.

Yeah, there are people riding e-bikes all over that area. You actually need to pay attention when you're on foot because they come whizzing by you.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

Oh. Yeah. Renting a bike might be an option then also :)

With the festival ending so early (?) at night... taking some time getting home isn't that big of a hassle

And luckily with the US not being a "tax nightmare" like here in Sweden, a beer at the festival must be like 2-3 dollars. Amazing!

"riddled with crime" actually got a laugh out of me. Clearly you have never been to the area. Dont sweat it!

Eddie or a 3rd night of PJ? I wouldn't be surprised if Ed steps in but they'd still have to find someone decent as well. Neil was a big draw.
