The only intelligent and non emotional response made here.

Someone calling me a negative nancy bc I pointed out that nothing is confirmed either way?

ok you child. Can’t take having your bubbles popped? What a feckless goon.

Ouch, name calling, seems your the emotional one Nancy

On another note I hope this listening party results in some news on the upcoming album which has been confirmed to be completed and ready to go
Yeah. I’m the emotional one. Pointing out an objective truth and then being called a neg Nancy. Seems fair.

also, by simple logic, if the album were “ready to go”, wouldn’t it be….going?

    Think about it.
  • Friend landed in LA over an hour ago, was going to try and drive by the venue if time allowed.
  • Santos did a psst post. What is happening?????

This is absolutely silly. Ed told the crowd from the stage at the final show in 2023 that the album was done and it would be released in 2024. A band the size of Pearl Jam doesn't finish a record and just press send. A release date has many considerations taken into account before they set it. One of the biggest being how they want to position in regards to touring.

A band as big as PJ doesn’t just press send?

What? There is so much precedent for this.

Both Radiohead and U2 are the very first that come to mind and there are many, many others.

Touring should…should have zero impact. There’s no good reason to link the two, although I know pj has done that in the past. But it makes little sense. Why? Bc shows create revenue, streams do not. There is no need to hype the album or build anticipation. If the record is ready, just make it available. This isn’t 2005.

I bet putting an unsolicited U2 album on every iPhone in the world at once is probably the most complicated roll out possible, “hitting a button” feels reductive.

but more to the point, did The Who ever just up & release a record online with no warning? Did Neil? Those are the artists PJ is emulating. That’s the career arc they are working with. They do album rollouts this way because Jeff and Stone have been doing them for forty years

So your take is that they (should) do things a certain way bc it’s been done like that in the past? Bands adapt; change; etc.

    its evolution baby…

I’m not saying what they should do, nor would they listen to me anyway. I’m saying that until we actually see those changes there’s no reason to expect a change. They are old school guys.

Oh, my God! You've cracked it. The album is being released in an alternate dimension where they're on Pacific Standard Standard Time (PSST). Where's the wormhole to get us there?! STONE?!

And THAT is why I am always skeptical about where they are in the process, and of course because, each guy will interpret things differently. So, I take everything with a grain of salt and yea, without confirmation, something like an entire new album being played without even a shred of build up (like with gig), is going to seem less likely in my view.

Ed told 20000 people the album was finished 4 months ago. Then Matt told a podcast that it was mixed & mastered. Then Mike told Guitar Player how it sounded & what working with Watt was like. They’ve announced 3 festivals. We’ve received 3 update your membership reminders. What constitutes a “shred of build up” in your mind?  Seems to me they’ve got the pump pretty well primed.

Again, refer back to the Gigaton rollout (I still think all of this is pointless just slap it up on streaming services and let us hear the thing) and you’ll understand that before the album was played cover to cover we had WAY more than we do at this point. I’m not going to list out the items again but go back in the thread.
