I can’t recall, but when Jeff was mugged and robbed when one of the albums was recorded in Atlanta, that could be why the band hasn’t played a full show there.

It would be fun to see PJ play a full show in Atlanta.

JA issue was in 2009. PJ played Music Midtown in 2012, so what happened is not the reason they haven’t played an arena or shed, imo.

I just posted this in another thread, ten minutes ago. I’ve been a 10c member since 2004. I live in Athens and I’ve been able to use my 10c number twice for tickets. Greenville and Nashville, last year. Just insane.

I was at the Greenville show. What a surprise! White whale was a full band WMA, so very happy with that.

I missed a show in Columbia ‘08 that I had tickets to. Didn’t see them again until 2012. After that I just resolved to travel. Try to just make it a trip to a cool city with an awesome concert.

    But, come on Atlanta 2024!

Would love to see them come back to Atlanta. Plenty of great venues for them to choose from.

Seattle never got a Gigaton show…..looks like the last album tour in Atlanta was Riot Act…..not counting a festival.

Yeah, that’s correct! Technically Music Midtown was a Backspacer show. They worked in at least 5 BS tunes. Glad to hear them since I missed that entire touring cycle.

Last time for PJ in this building, it was called Phillips Arena, 23 years ago!

Hmm, Masquerade is an old, legendary venue for Atlanta, but my understanding is it’s in a new location at Underground Atlanta. I haven’t been to Underground in a bit, but it’s my understanding it has turned into a bit of a ghost town.

If I’m right about that location, take Marta to get you close. Parking down there will be weird and not a happening place at night usually.
I hit it right when I moved here a few years ago from Boston. Pretty cool venue. There was a parking garage right there (Underground Atlanta). They have an upstairs and downstairs.

Thank you both for the information.......we have gone to Underground Atlanta since we've been here.......seems like they are revamping it.  My wife went about 15-20 years ago and said it was cool back then.
Looking forward to the show, thanks again.
I miss the old Masquerade. I saw Foo Fighters there in 96 and Radiohead in Heaven in 1997. That might be the best concert i have ever seen. The new place is just a strip mall with three different "levels". Not the same vibe at all.

Okay, to keep our mind off of the impending lottery announcements and to continue the official Atlanta ‘24 campaign, here’s a great PJ Atlanta memory!

I was 15 years old and listening to my stereo with a clock and a stack of 90 minute cassette tapes, busily creating my very first bootleg. Pre internet (and admittedly knowing very little music history), I was thrilled to the inclusion of new songs, to which I falsely attributed this Dead Boys cut to PJ. I know better now! Totally loved this song, and for me this is the definitive live version!

Come on PJ, come on back to Atlanta and create some more amazing memories!

Nice.  I was just talking to a guy that recorded the (I think he said)94 show off the radio here in Atlanta, and still has the tape with the DJ set at the end.
I had a tape I recorded of the 95 Soldier Field show from the radio.
    pre official bootleg times.

Yeah, same thing I did! ‘94 show taped off of 99X. I didn’t get the DJ set though. Stupidly threw the tapes away after buying a soundboard bootleg on cd from Criminal Records (they used to sell bootlegs, real ones, $25 a disc!).

I still have my tapes with half the DJ set. the radio was fading in and out during the broadcast of the last part of the dj set.

The lottery results sub sandwich talk got me thinking.  I’m new to the area, I live east of Atlanta, but I’m in the city often.

What are the best places here for:

    -Sub sandwich
    -Burger
    -Steak
    -BBQ
    -Pizza
    -Italian

    -Any other must try restaurants

Fox Bros for BBQ.  The Vortex for Burgers.  Both are in or near the Little 5 points area.
