Interesting timing with the recent discussion of his solo albums in this thread. I only saw him solo on the Songbook tour, so this video was a revelation with how different it was.

Higher Truth is great. I saw him on that tour and he came to our symphony hall. Just him with an occasional cello. Best decision for a show I ever made. He played SG, TOTD, solo, Audioslave, and a few covers. He sounded amazing.
I agree I saw that tour at the Albert hall. I couldn't have wished for a better venue or set list. And his solo show at the palladium in London was and still is the best gig I've ever heard

same. saw it with my wife at a civic audituorium attached to a high school...

There is a you tube vid of him covering. Day in the life by the Beatles. The how many holes to fill the Albert hall was amazing.

it's really weird how, besides Euphoria Mourning, I never really cared for CC's solo stuff. I mean, he wrote all of TOTD, and a good chunk of SG's stuff, but when it's just him...meh. Which is weird cuz live solo he was a BEAST. I loved his live release, but his studio solo stuff falls a bit flat for me. I really wish it didn't. God knows I've tried.
I’m with you on this. I can’t remember the last time I listened to one of his solo studio records. My favourite solo release is the Unplugged in Sweden set. It’s better than Songbook because it doesn’t fade out after every song.

I really do like his acoustic solo stuff.  I think I saw 4 shows on the many years he was doing acoustic tours.   I love live in Sweden, and hope it gets a proper release one day.  Songbook is also pretty damn good, but there's something a little rawer on the live in sweden performance.

It is pretty crazy the Live in Sweden thing, when viral on the internet with everyone pirating the FM broadcast.    It gave his solo career legs.

I've been watching a 2009 pinkpop electric performance with a band, something feels missing.

I really do like Higher Truth, I listen to it a lot.
  • to be clear(er), his solo live shows are unrivaled. Even his solo studio stuff played live. It was just the recorded product that doesn't resonate with me. But live...nothing comes close.
Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer

Still so bummed that I missed seeing a Chris solo show. I was late to get tickets when he was playing in my town, and just slept on trying to get scalped tickets. Regrets.

    Nothing since then. I suck.

Songbook was great but everything about the Euphoria Morning era was elite. Incredible album, incredible band with Natasha and Alain, small clubs.
