Part of the federal taxes I pay goes to the federal interstate system that I rarely use. And at the state level, most everywhere, gas tax and registration fees covers about 50-60% of road building and maintenance, so the rest of the money comes from non-usage based taxes.

We’re talking about how transportation infrastructure is paid for. The money doesn’t fall from the sky in red states, but my guess is more republicans hold the false belief that roads are fully covered by gas tax and vehicle fees.
