Workday Time Killer - WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CONCERT?

JOEJOEJOEJOEJOEJOE Posts: 10,513
Mine was the J.Geils Band at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles (UCLA) in March 1980.

I was 15 at the time, so transportation was always an issue.....I had to limit my concerts to venues not too far from home.  On some occasions, someone's parents would be nice enough to drive us!

I’ve been told I went to a Raffi concert but have zero recollection of it. I do remember Sting (with openers Concrete Blonde) at the Skydome in 1991(?) on the Soul Cages tour. There was some exquisite musicianship on display that night.

    Nice!
My first concert was also Beach Boys, but sadly sans Brian Wilson, 12/29/65.

(Actually, before that I saw Barry McGuire and The New Christie Minstrels perform a couple of songs  at an outdoor performance for the unveiling of United Airlines' first DC-8  in 1959, but that wasn't really a concert.  We went to go tour the plane at SFO, not expecting there to be music.)

Robarts Arena. Saw a lot of good ole wrasslin' (NWA and AWA, I think) matches there, too (Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair, The Road Warriors [Hawk and Animal], Lex Lugar, Blackjack Mulligan, Barry and Kendall Windham, Rick Rude, etc.).

On a PJ road trip a few years ago I was playing this game with some good friends. We all state our first show and when he gets to the last guy he casually says "Elvis". The rest of us are like WTF!!! Elvis!?!?! Mic drop. Turns out his parents toted him along to the show when he was really young. The fact he'd seen The King play in person was equally impressive and surprising that he'd never told us before.

Yes!  As a matter of fact, I remember the world's first wheel.
We found Gary Larsons first Far Side comic he was funny from Day 1

    64 according to Wikipedia.
“not touring from 1964 to 1976, from 1990 to 2011 and since 2012”

fits in with the show I saw when he was there so I think this is correct.
