Cancellation Notice For Vienna, Austria
News July 20 2022

To all those who were anticipating a great Pearl Jam show tonight in Vienna, we were too. However, due to the extreme circumstances at the last outdoor site outside of Paris (heat, dust, and smoke from the fires) our singer Ed Vedder’s throat was left damaged. He has seen doctors and had treatment but as of yet, his vocal cords have not recovered.

This is brutal news and horrible timing…for everyone involved.

Those who work so hard to put on the shows as well as those who give their precious time and energies to attend….

As a band, we are deeply sorry and have tried to find options to still play. And Ed wants to play. There’s just no throat available at this time…

So very, very deeply sorry.

Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase.

Thank you for understanding.

Traveled from Texas to see Vienna and Prague shows, my stomach just dropped when I saw it was canceled.  Hopeful for Prague but not counting on it.

They are certainly in some doubt as things stand. But when they cancelled London 2 in 2018, Eddie voice in Rome a week later was sounding good so hopefully the same will happen this time.

The late call on Vienna gives me hope that this show had a chance at going ahead.

What a dose. Was just about to leave the hotel to go. Feel awful for those who have travelled from afar and the fans in the queue all day. The heat is cruel here. Very late for a cancellation. Of course I understand they had to give it their best shot to put on the show but it still sucks. What are the chances for Prague? Austrian airlines just bumped us off our flight to Prague tomorrow by the looks of it.

The lines for TC early entrance and outside were extremely long.. Nothing compared to Budapest. At 6.15 pm and no early entry I knew something is wrong. So sorry for all that came to Vienna.. Enjoy the city.. It's beautiful

    • Get well soon, or as long as it takes, Ed. Much love.
    • To any fans in beautiful Vienna, please go have some fun. Wander off the beaten path. I am jealous of you, so please live it up!
    • To anyone, anywhere, whether you're a fan of this band, or have family who are not: we are cooking ourselves alive, and Mother Earth is sending us a message. 100% sure Ed would be okay with pointing out that we ALL need to vote for candidates who will take the climate crisis on this planet seriously. All hands on deck.

Could have played songs from Jeff, Stone and Matt.  Let those guys sing!!  I think it would make for an awesome show.  Give Ed time to heal.
Could have brought in Lenny from Black Circle!!
Hate this for the band and fans.

WOW - really tough news for those who had made plans to go and also for Ed and the band - I'm sure it was an incredibly tough decision to make.  I think it serves as a cautionary tale for those using scalpers (no refunds) on future dates and also just how precious these shows have all become - with everything going on you just can't take anything for granted.  Hope Ed is better soon and everyone makes the best of a tough situation.

Not knocking your suggestions, just one thought on your comment - I don't think the band would ever consider a replacement for Eddie period - Also , it might feel too much like Journey...that is still just odd to me...As a fan I would go be thinking WTF if Lenny was on stage - which btw - I think he is amazing - just wouldn't feel right to me.
