I promise I am not being an ass, just asking. What in this set list makes it better than any other? There were two new songs as each night has had. Other than that its all the same?

Holy shit, some of you. I don't post on here much, but a lot of folks are acting really fucking weird with the speculation lol The sets are what they are. We've got through more than two years of pandemic and the band has had a very large break in between touring give them a fucking break! Haven't we all been through enough? Can't we just sit back and enjoy the fact that live music is actually happening at all right now? Instead of complaining about setlist nuance? Some of the posts are fucking funny, but come on, you gotta admit some of these are bordering on spoiled and assumed privilege. Not trying to tell people what to post, but I needed to vent after reading this shit the past couple of days! lol

Charlottesville was 10 years ago. My whole point, is something is different now. Clearly Stone was ok with 36 songs a few years back. And it’s not age. Of course they can do what they want and play one song if they want. But something has changed and that’s my opinion. I hope I’m completely wrong and they bust out lost dogs and 30 song sets again, but I think those days are long gone. I didn’t think this band would be there until we’ll until their 60’s but it is what is is. I’ll enjoy the shows I go too.

Love Come Back, SOLAT is a live favorite, like Corduroy to start.

Exactly! I’m not mad or anything. Still going to shows. Anyone that has followed this band is in a little bit of shock at the drastic reduction and repetitive songs. It all comes from a good place. But I think my odds of getting Brother and Fatal have shrank a good bit 😂

My point was, you’re correct that something is different but the assumption about this somehow being a Stone Gossard issue is laughably false.

There is certainly something that has made them decide to do shorter, less varied setlists with a focus on hits and older stuff. Could be pandemic-related, could be whatever. I don't really care because the quality of their performances are still generally beyond reproach in my opinion, and most bands I've ever seen don't do sets longer than two hours.

Why is this hard to understand? They are close to 60, they are trying to save Eddie’s voice for the tour, quality over quantity, maybe they didn’t have a lot of time together to practice every song they do and they will be mixing in new songs along the tour. Be happy with what you have and not with what you don’t have. Be grateful.

This was one big reason I was so surprised when they added in a show, and now made St. Louis the 3rd straight night in a 3rd city show. I can’t remember the stat exactly, but someone looked it up that’s it’s the first time in 15-18 years or something.
I get a lot of the confusion and back and forth here because it seemed like a sudden change. I think you’re right though, being grateful and happy to go to a show again is how I’m trying to look at it. I’m younger than the band, and I can’t even imagine what I’d feel like traveling to 3 cities in 3 nights, let alone putting voice/body through shows. I think those of us going to St. Louis will be happy/lucky to get a “new normal” type show.
No time to be void or save up on life, you gotta spend it all.
Of course I'm biased but, the shows in Italy are always amazing hopefully some photos of the crowd will get posted. Someone said 50k+ pretty damn impressive 😎
