Brian, I appreciate your point of view. I agree. And you are 100% right.
But what can we really do about it?

Great question, Get.  For me, it always falls back to something Vaclav Havel once said.  (Paraphrased):  Hope is not the conviction that things will turn out well.  Hope is the conviction to do what makes sense no matter how things turn out.
I think the best we can do is to do what makes the most sense.  Sometimes that comes down to having to choose the less harmful of two choices.  That can be very frustrating, I know, but I think it beats giving in to despair or giving up altogether.

Apologies, Brian I just saw this today. I think the problem was the lack of the conviction you speak about. And I agree that you have to take one position or the other, even if it is the lesser of two evils. Exercise your right, that is important. I am just reflecting on how poor the Dems campaign was. I cannot even stand here saying I knew what Kamala stood for. Her message, if she had one, was not received by the American public. This should have been a slam dunk. They blew it.

were you waiting to be spoonfed that or did you put effort in to find out at all?

I agree, Harris campaign could have been much better.  But bear in mind, it was put together in a very short period of time.  If Biden had dropped out and there had been an open convention, things could have turned out much differently.
In any case, the bottom line is America voted in an amoral felon, voted for autocratic rule and the end of democracy, voted for the further degradation of the environment (and thus putting our own survival at risk), and voted in favor of a situation that will reduce the quality all of our lives.  Americans did that.  WE blew it.

I see the left wing run governors that are "still counting votes" are putting in overtime to make it closer then it is.  Sad.  Must end. Count faster.

Perhaps before bloviating uninformed comments it would do some good to familiarize yourself with state laws for counting votes,in places like California that currently has the most remaining votes to count

Also, perhaps the violent wing of American politics should stop with the bomb threats, which is only slowing down the count.

jeez, your guy won, and you still found a complaint. Not that you are here for civil discussions.

    • Vote-by-mail ballots that are mailed must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by your county elections office no later than 7 days after Election Day.

Does the President have a say in what ballots are counted and accepted in California?

No. States and county elections officials are in charge of elections. County elections officials are responsible for printing, mailing and counting votes. The vote count process is open to the public.

WASHINGTON, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Bomb threats were made against several Maryland boards of elections and election offices in at least two California counties on Friday, state authorities said, adding that everyone was safe and law enforcement officials were investigating.

Obviously some people get their information from FB memes and other social media blips on the screen.  The Governor and Attorney General in mine and other states are hard at work these days.  And by that, obviously, I mean doing more than counting votes.  That's not their job.
I feel a little bit sorry for people who are not even moderately educated in how our system works, yet have all kinds of opinions about government and politics.

A big block of trump supporters don’t give one iota of care whether trump does anything to make their lives better. Instead it’s like a sports game to them. All they care about is the score and that they “won.”

Yeah and they don't care about exploding deficits...unless a dem is in office

Honestly a lot of what trump ran on sounds like a free spending liberal (i.e. no tax on tips, no tax on SS, free IVF, etc.)

"like a sports game".  Exactly.  It's all about the "winning", even when winning is actually losing.  We all lost this time.

Perhaps Felon supporters will start to care when it really hurts.  And I don't like to wish bad things on people, but I hope it does hurt... a lot.    But it's like tough love.  Sometimes that is what is needed.  Otherwise you end up in a bottomless pit, and if the suffering leads to coming out better and wiser on the other end, hardship and even suffering may be what is needed in the long run.
Yes, that means we will all hurt, and yes, that is unfair.  So we need to support each other in whatever way we can.  People who care and are supportive will get through this better who are not learning from this and who are selfish and uncaring.

A friend send this excerpt from a NY Times article (sorry, no link, just the quote).  It kind of makes sense... if you live in NY, CA, VA, WA, OR, etc.
“Since the election, I have decided to pretend that NY seceded from the US and treat news coming from DC as if is come from a foreign country. It’s of interest, but remotely so. Regarding this news, I feel the same way. It’s not a matter over which I have any control, and I have about as much interest as I would reading about the appointment of a new cabinet minister in Hungary or Russia. My focus is instead on enhancing my local and state communities, but of course also protecting them if attacked by that foreign country south of the New York—Pennsylvania border.”
I rather like the idea of referring to myself as a Californian rather than an American.  Even more specifically, though originally a coastal wetlands Californian, I am currently a transition zone savanna/mixed woodlands/coniferous forest bioregion Californian.

We really need to get away from this "mandate" shit.  And each party has said it in my life time.  I mean trump won what...slightly over 50%?  That's a mandate?  It's always crazy to see 1 side or the other dunk over 49% of the country.

And then people wanting the president to fail cause he/she (so far always a he) is part of their political team?  Crazy.
