Sounds like a horse shit show for the fans. Who wants to see the temper tantrums while trying to enjoy the music?

Maybe whatever happening is being enhanced by the unique stress of playing a show with your buddy sick and unable to play drums, and being backed by grooves you are not super prepped and sure on since it was spur of the moment?

After having postponed a tour two years.
And being super cautious about everything., meanwhile others acted like it was a hoax and no big deal and basically avoided being impacted or didn't do the right thing if they were ill. Frustrating to follow protocols and still get fucked over.
Wow, seems like a somewhat notorious show. I’m missing both having caught Covid myself finally, doing fine though. I had serious concerns about this tour and their mental state when Jeff mentioned they were functioning in a bubble. No visiting friends and family in various cities, not being able to truly take in the joys of a tour, minus the time on stage. Then to have Matt go down I’m sure their frustrations are peaking. No idea how they can tour like this through Europe next month, might be time to just fuck it, burst the bubble and make touring enjoyable again.

I give Ed a lot of props and a pass. He’s a perfectionist when it comes to the shows. Puts A LOT of thought into the set lists. Yet here he is playing with a 17 year old drummer, has to be the conductor for the songs, and try to play flawless with multiple drummers. A ton of stress that he doesn’t have with Matt behind the skins.

It’s so quiet here all of a sudden. Any idea what was going on with Ed (and Mike)?

@JPPJ84 honestly? Ed and stone were the most visibly frustrated. With how everything managed to go off without a hitch in night one, Josh and Richard really struggled tonight. Josh was fighting it and Richard kinda went space cadet on a number of tunes aside from just missing downbeats just zoning out and not ending songs anywhere close to when  he should have. Kinda got away with it on WMA turning it into a drum jam with Josh but the rest of the guys had changed instruments and were waiting around. was above the stage on stones some almost behind and Ed stone and Mike were visibly not happy when they left for encore. Encore you could see them trying to kinda salvage it. It’s a tough situation.

Just got back to the hotel. Something was definitely off during Brain of J and Low Light. TIming of the drums or something else. Ed was having issues with his monitors possibly. At the end of Low Light he kicked a large PA speaker right in between Josh and Stone and then threw his wine bottle right at the same spot. We got Angry Eddie for the rest of the evening. Mike joined in on RVM and smashed his guitar against the mic stand over and over. During Porch Jam Ed just walked in circles visibly angry like a lion in a cage. I thought for a second we were going to see him launch himself into the crowd. There was definitely a completely different vibe once he threw that bottle. He did say that Matt is still in Arizona trying to get better. I think the earliest he'd be back would be Sacramento.

Eddie even commented on his behavior himself, and apologized. I'm not so sure it was related to frustration with drummers, however.

I would suspect that it's due in large part to having multiple unprepared drummers filling in. It is probably easier for them to pick up many of the songs they have been hearing for 25-30 years. I could be wrong, but that's my take.

I'm betting covid earned MFC a pay raise.
